My friend has the engine and trans. out of his 69 Charger that has been stored for going on 30 years. The car is long gone, the engine/trans. have been stored nicely and we are trying to figure out a "fair price". 41K miles when pulled and ran fine.  :shruggy: I don't have a build date...yet.

Chances are it led a rough life and is beat. That was 30 years ago when it (supposedly) last ran & who knows how good that really was. Where was it stored? Were the plugs pulled & oil squired into the cylinders and cranked over every once in a while? How complete is it? I sure as hell wouldn't trust cleaning it up and throwing it into a car. It's a given that the transmission will have to be completely gone through as well.

I'd offer him a couple hundred bucks for everything & maybe go as high as $500.00.

I'm not buying it just trying to help him find "worth". I mentioned to him much of what you said already before this post though.  :2thumbs:

The car 'is long gone'.  Does this mean it was wrecked/crushed?  Or was it sold?

If it was sold give Ghoste the VIN and see if it matches up, the motor/trans could be worth something to the current owner.

I agree , assuming car is destroyed, car and engine could be reunited, give vin to ghoste

Engine/tranny were original to the scrapped 69. (Rusty by 30 year ago standards.) He bought a 70 to swap out parts that's why he stored it. (Then sold the 70.) Keep in mind I'm just trying to get him a ball park $$. Sorry I don't have more info yet, I'll get #'s and date code sometime soon. (We are both pretty busy right now, it just came up in conversation.)  I did explain the value was mostly in having the car AND engine/tranny matching ###.

Daytona R/T SE

I'd go $1000 if it's a totally complete XS29L9 engine and tranny...

I'd even come and get it if it's not too far away :Twocents:

Mopar Nut

If it is a totally complete XS29L9 running engine and tranny, I'd go $1300 shipped to Utah.

I would have thought this was a fair price as well, but it looks like others are willing to pay more. . . .  Looks like they are worth at least $1300.00. :shruggy:
