You misread the ad.  He never mentioned it being a Hemi, just that it had the 18 spline Hemi 4 spd.  He mentioned the motor as a wedge.

Ghoste

Yes, he states its a wedge.  Badass car in black that way.

nice car from the pictures  :drool5: :yesnod:   , don't think its  426 RB wedge block though  :scratchchin:   thought they had !   as all RB blocks had  !  a pad on top of the motor left of the distributor  , cant see on the motor in the below picture  , might be a bored / stroked 383 or 400   :scratchchin::shruggy: :popcrn:

Doesn't Indy make a wedge block too?  Would it have the pad if it were theirs?

BrianShaughnessy

Um... looks like a 361/383/400 B block to me,  not a 413/426/440 RB.   BUT Indy used to sell 383's stroked out to 426 as crate motors.   :scratchchin:
Black Betty:  1969 Charger R/T - X9 440 six pack, TKO600 5 speed, 3.73 Dana 60.
Sinnamon:  1969 Charger R/T - T5 440, 727, 3.23 8 3/4 high school sweetheart.

They do make the wedge block, but only for the 440 now.  I think at one point they did make a Max wedge engine.  Not + on that.

Nope did not misread the ad.....I know he said hemi 4 speed, 8 know he said wedge, I looked at the ad already and engine bay.

But hey its a hemi with 500hp.....

Ghoste

I apologize man but I'm not following.  ???  :shruggy:

Indy makes the "B" blocks.

BIGBLCK11

It looks like a nice, clean car.  Very cool, but I wouldn't pay 30k.

I was in the dentist last week with an ER root canal on a tooth that blew up.   She gave me a shot & it wasn't long & it wore off, high tolerance.  So after poke I felt better until all of a sudden she hit something.
The nurse gal, Dr. both jumped with me.  I told them "Et es agya genga"

With the rubber damn on my mouth & half my mouth numb translation, "That was a zinger!"  :haha:

seller: Uhhhh...Yup under the hood sir its a 426 hemi...
ghoset: lets see...
seller: sure....
ghoste: thats not a 426 hemi engine...
sellere: Uhhh...no, but its under the hood so its a 426, HEMI 4 speeder...
ghoste: oh, yeah I guess your right.....

thats how a conversation would happend if you ever talked to someone like this you ask whats under he will tell you 426, HEMI 4 speed, and until you look under there you would have never known.

Ghoste

Now I'm following you.  Thanks.

But the guy specifically states 426 Wedge so that's also likely what he would say in person. In your example, the commas are pauses so it would be clear that there's a gap between "426" and "Hemi". How can you be offended by a hypothetical situation any way? Do you also get confused when someone says "440, Hemi 4-speed, Dana" and tell them that Mopar never made a "440 Hemi"? In real life, it's very clear - especially if you've had a lot of exposure to Mopar people. I can't think of a single person I've ever met who says "426" when they mean Hemi and everyone with an earlier 426 always clarifies it with Max Wedge or Wedge. I guess you could argue that there's no such thing as a "Hemi 4-speed" - but that's the common term so I don't bother correcting people.

I don't think the car is worth $30k or someone would have bought it already. My dad and I both like the body style but it isn't popular with everybody so you can generally find pretty nice base model Coronets for cheap. That car has probably $12-15k in the drive train and, if it needed any body work, another $10-15k in paint so I don't know that you could build it for that price (unless you do most of it yourself).

Ghoste

I think they are Indy's but I don't know the specific type.  Someone likely does.

What do you expect with someone with a lol .74 Charger.  :nana:
It does say wedge. Maybe a 383/400 with a stroker kit ?
