That's the latest description of illegal aliens by some local liberal talking head I heard today.  I guess undocumented immigrant is now too harsh.  When will it end?  Not until full amnesty is granted, I guess......

That should take in a good chunk of the globe.  Should provide the libs with a huge pool of support for decades.
I had to go to a notary public just this week and was asked if I had any opposition to swearing upon the Bible.  I replied no and conducted my business but after asked her what she would have done if I said yes.  She said "nothing, we would just do it without that part, no big deal".  I told her it was a very big deal, whats the point of asking me if it isn't required.  She correctly told me that not everyone believes in the Bible.  Okay fair enough, so how do we ensure their veracity without the threat of eternal damnation?  I was told, "sir, I dont create these stupid rules I jsut do as Im told".  I apologized sincerely and remembered I live in a place where the "same sex relationship" leaders idea of displaying great leadership potential is a tv spot talking about how she always achieves her jogging goals because she is soooooooo determined.
The power of words man, the power of words.

Interesting, I haven't had to do the bible thing for a notary before, that can remember.  Just I.D..  I'm surprised they even require that anymore.  You shouldn't need I.D. Even to vote.

That was in Canada where we aren't sure if we are rooted in traditions of 150 years ago or are we the worlds leading edge when it comes to politically correct uber liberalism.  We can't call ourselves socialists because that just sounds bad.

Is it not true that rules and laws are arrived at by a consensus of those that we hire to do so?

When the rules and laws are not enforced then what is the point of them in the first place?

As more and more situations like this occur the value of the rules and law that we are expected to live by loses value.

I see lawmakers job is to comply with the wishes of the voters by making the rules but by not following through they have technically complied but got the results of inaction. ---and a paycheck for doing nothing---

This is a huge waste of time and money at the gov. level.

You can call yourselves socialists.  We can to.  To not do so is to deny the meaning of the word :shruggy:

Yea, starts to wander off the op though.  Really changing the name to protect people who are in the country illegally, wtf?  I think its just what I implied so they can make amnesty an easier pill to swallow for the American people and get a huge huge pool of rateful democrat supporters.  Meanwhile there is still a Customs agent out there trying to prevent it.  So if you get caught at the border it becomes a slap on the wrist and go home to try another day but if you slip by well golly gee aren't you jhust a hard working ambitious fellow out to better his life, just another shining example of an aspiring American without papers.
If you want to grant amnesty to the aspiring Americans dont waste time and money on the other half of the hypocrisy.  Take down the border inspection stations and let anyonbe on the planet who wants to be a papered American come in. :Twocents:

I've met a lot of "resistance" from some Canadians for suggesting that we are a socialist nation.

It sounds like we are in need of a new word to describe what we are.  That seems to be the politically correct way of doing things.  When a term goes out of favor or becomes derogatory because of reality rather than face reality a new term can be added (to mean the same thing).

As a group we are just plane silly :slap:

I sure as hell don't have a workable solution for the US, Canada or anywhere else but I guess my definition of "law" is markedly different than the uber clueless libs definition.
If you are here illegally......9/10ths of the law blah blah blah BUT if you want to stay here do the right thing. Clearly my definition of "the right thing" is 180 out from the bleeding heart Libs definition.

The problem of illegal immigration is so nebulous that there is no truly workable solution. People are going to suffer. We can not just give blanket amnesty. You break our laws you MUST pay the price. But you are already HERE so now what do we do. I personally can't kick someone to the curb because they are trying to make a better life for themselves and their family.
On the other hand "you" are bleeding my country's social resources dry because our moral fiber won't allow us to turn you away in your time of need. "You" know this and are taking advantage of it. Meantime these same services are becoming ever more difficult for us genuine citizens to access because they are going broke because if YOU!

The dems say "just let them come, let them stay they are already here, we'll just ignore our laws and let it slide". The GOP says "pay your back taxes, pay reasonable fines for breaking our laws and we will streamline the immigration process so you can become legal citizens".

Both proposals have merit but the bottom line for me is, if you step on my toes there will be a price to pay.....AND YOU WILL PAY THAT PRICE OR ALL BETS ARE OFF!

Wish I had the answer.

Without securing our borders, there really isn't anything we can do.  Unfortunately to secure our borders, we'd have to pretty much well turn the US into a fortress.  To deal with the illegals here, we'd have to allow our police to knuckle down and check for green cards and deportation.  Both aren't cost effective and would probably cost more than if we just left the illegals here and made them citizens.

I doubt that the US would want to annex the rest of the world although at times it seems like we have. :P

they already have amnesty!!!! can you say sanctuary city.  just sayin cause i live in one  :RantExplode:

I really only see merit in the version where you pay your back taxes, a reasonable fine and the process will be streamlined (which is still not a promise).
Amnesty is the same as border anarchy to me.  If you are home free once you are in then quite wasting resources pretending to keep people out.  Some will call it the cold hearted cynic in me but I believe 100% that the party that wants to grant amnesty only wants to do it to grow a loyal pool of voters.  If they truly gave a shit about the conditions in the country people are fleeing then they would open their bleeding heart checkbooks and jsut keep pouring money on it until the bad yucky problems went away.  Corrupt governments?  Take them out, you do it in the Middle East.  Oh wait, thats right, they have oil we need.  The only thing we want from Latin America is cheap drugs and cheap labor and lots and lots and lots of faithful votes.
Yes I am a bitter cynic.
