Does anybody know why the "Dodge" badge was not put on the 2nd gen charger ?

Ghoste

I think everyone just knew.  Kind of like the Beatles putting no title on the White album or Led Zeppelin putting nothing at all on their fourth lp.  Heck they didn't even put a "Charger" badge on the back of the 69 if it was an RT.

Mytur Binsdirti

They put CHARGER lettering on th back of as Marlin & look where that got 'em.

To make it easier to sell off to another company.

:D

Ghoste

Of course, they sold it to Chrysler.

(yes I know thats what you meant)

Maybe because it was such a failure in Nascar, they felt it wasn't worthy of the Dodge badge

The 2nd gen?

My theory is because it is one of the few cars, so outstanding in its own right..that it leaves its manufatuctue behind.
In a sense becoming something separate from other dodges, & identified as almost more "charger" then "dodge".

The 2nd gen?

Well wasnt it? i mean it wasn't the worst, but it lost horribly compared to the first gen, and needed major body changes to compete, idunno  :scratchchin:

Does anyone know who makes the that one car the charger back in 1968 to 1970?  I need to write a report on this car since its so beautiful, did this company go bankrupt after making this car and left its name off it?

GL0169

because Dodge wanted the new charger which was the 1968 charger to be a real muscle car - sleek and clean -so the only badge that were put on the first prototype  was the "charger script and Arrows " taken from the 1967 charger  but when production started the " Arrows" where dropped from the sail panel and just the "Charger script was used -  grill and rear tail section got scripts and arrows  sail panels got only script

JB400

Maybe it was such a premier car that it didn't need any additional nametags.

don duick

like the Lincoln didn't get the ford badge not trying to compare a Lincoln to a charger

I had a 1991 LX coupe that had a blue oval on the trunk.

It was too special for a last name, sorta like Madona and Prince.

What ?

myk

I'd say it has something to do with the design itself being so fantastic that they wanted the world to know it was a "Charger" first.  Besides, the script of the DODGE lettering at the time just seems out of place on the Charger's body.  Personally, I prefer a 2nd 'Gen with no emblems or labels of any sort...

Ghoste

Chevelle owners didn't have time read the back of the car anyway when it passed them.  Money was better spent on distinctive taillights.

The Dodge 'fratzog' was still on the steering wheel medallion (at least in '69) and on most of the hub caps or wheel cover options.
