I had my son laser engrave me some microfiber towels and coasters and I like them so much I told him to print some more and I would post them if not offensive to the board-remove this post if it is. He has purchased a laser engraving machine and 3d printers and is starting a new business.
Thanks

tell me all about the towels!

Does the etching of the picture cause the fibers to harden or are they still as soft as the untouched fibers?

They look AWSOME! :2thumbs:
wingless now, but still around.

He could do bath towels too right?

This is the son, Ryan. I was just told that he posted this here, a bit before the website is actually finished, but what was done is done so I will answer questions.  Glad you like the look!

Very very minimally, and only on one side, if it was a small picture on the corner it would be easy to avoid, if it is a large picture I would not use that on paint as I am paranoid.

That is a good question, I think it depends on how the fibers react to the laser, so cotton might not look the same as microfiber, but that would be worth checking out.

I can get orange, I just had not ordered any of those yet, but I did just add those as well as large black towels to the store.

Ok, Since there seems to be some interest I will go ahead and talk about this a bit more.  Like I said before i was not ready to have this posted or public yet but that is alright.

My original plan was to take this to our local large car show, Carl Casper Autoshow in Louisville next month. I plan on offering a whole array of products from toys, tools, decorations, to actual products for other people with cars at the show.

For example here is a laser engraved photo on a wood sheet I am working on, this was my first try actually.

I am also working on a 25:1 gear reduction toy/puzzle that is a combination 3d-printed and laser cut.  I have been able to etch onto glass, metal plastic as well as the current items. So one thing I plan on offering is custom front license plates in either black or aluminum.

If you are interested in any ideas let me know, this is a brand new adventure that I plan to use for our cars as much as for others!
