Okay, I'm looking into buying new tires for the '68 and I don't know whether to go with BFGoodrich or Cooper Cobra's? Can I get some opinions on both tires and the reason behind that opinion please? Thanks guys. I'm running a 235/60R15 in front and 295/50R15.

I have BFG radial TA's on both Chargers.  I like them because they have an aggressive look to them.  Squared off like an old bias ply.  But they aren't much for dragstrip traction I can tell you that.

For longevity and cruisability im happy with the bfg radial ta. There is no traction on them with a big block 4 speed car but then again, i can butn off the drag radials too....  :smilielol:

Can you get 295s in BFG? They were on indefinite backorder for a while but then I heard people were able to get them later. :shruggy: I'd call a shop that sells BFG and make sure they can actually get them.

I wanted BFGs in 295 but couldn't get them at the time so I bought Coopers instead. I like them so far. They look good, pretty soft rubber, good traction and they really make a lot of noise when you light 'em up. :2thumbs:

I thought the entire BFG Radial T/A tire model had finally been discontinued.

Yup-absolutely no traction and poor handling with that tire...

HPP

They are both S or T rated tires with mud and snow capability. Pick either one.

I have BFG TA's on both my cars.  For me it is mostly the look.  I agree, I simply like the way they look.
I don't do the track but I think they handle great.
I just looked at http://www.discounttiredirect.com and punched in 295/50/15 and says they are available. $205 each with free shipping and $25 discount for ordering on line.   :shruggy:

I am running the Mickey Thompson's on my Cragars.  Pretty sure they are made by Cooper.

Decent tire IMHO and different from the BFG "me too" tires....  :Twocents:

Yep MT and Cooper are the same now.  I hear so much complaints about the lack of traction with BFG it's scary.  I run Nitto's but I don't think that's the look you're after so get MT's or Coopers if you want to drive or get BFG's if the car is more for show.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Too bad Kelly doesn't make the "Charger" tire in a raised white letter any longer.  I had a set of those some years back and liked them.
But I am surprised to see folks say they have traction issues with the BFG's.  I think they handle great.   :scratchchin:

Me too on the MT's.   ;)

Regarding BFG's in 295/50/15, do what Bull suggests and talk to a live person and confirm that they are in stock and on hand.  I had a similar experience - websites all over said they were available when in fact they weren't.  Ultimately I'm glad I went with the MT's.
