Where'd you find that?

http://www.autoedizione.com/fiat-chrysler-automobiles-new-company-name/

But screw the official name! To me they will always be Chrysler, fiat is just the adopted bastard child

Ghoste

I know we should be grateful they kept the Chrysler part in there at all but its a slap in the face when I see it.  Yes yes yes, I know if Fiat didn't come in there would be no Chrysler at all but its still kind of sad to me is all.

TUFCAT

It was a match made by our government.  Remember, at that time Fiat came in nobody else wanted to buy Chrysler. Also realize that Fiat has been basically "in control" of Chrysler since 2009.

I certainly don't like it, but its better than no Chrysler at all.

I don't see why this is a big deal at all...
Every great legend has it's humble beginning.
Project 668:
1968 Dodge Charger (318 Car)
Projected Driveline:
383 with mild stroke
Carb intake w/Holley 750 VS

6-Speed Dodge Viper Transmission

Fully rebuilt Dana-60 w/Motive gears. 3.55 Posi, Yukon axles.

Finished in triple black.

Its a reminder that a once great company was part of a collective known as the Big 3 back in a time when America was strong and respected globally as a people and a source for things produced by its great industrial backbone.  A time when the American citizens were proud to go to work and assemble great cars like the Dodge Charger.
Now its a just another small division of a foreign company that may or may not give a rats hairy ass about the United States and the people who live and work there.  It feels like "yeah, you won the war, but those guys are all dead and we kicked your economic ass so now we own you ".

In other words, nostalgia.

Does this mean I can put Mopar badging on it now?    :yesnod:

Other way around.  You can put a Fiat badge on the Superbird.

myk

They can call themselves the "Hello Kitty Chrysler Corporation" for all I care.  The best of Chrysler, the soul of Chrysler, the real Chrysler rests in the laurels of history and in DC.com member's garages-whatever happens outside of that is none of my concern...

Unfortunately, FCA determines the fate of what was already produced as well.  They can shut down the aftermarket supply for us in hurry if they wanted to.

Heritage is something the Europeans generally do well though.  I know, I know, the four door Charger, but the genesis for that lies with the Americans in charge before Daimler ever came along.

Without Daimler, "Chrysler" would have not got back into Nascar, nor developed a "Charger", even though the marketplace today demands 4 doors to be relevant in that size vehicle.     DCX had a few good points, but more bad ones, IMO.  (like cheapening up the cars!  :eek2:)

First thing Sergio did was a balls out refresh of the product line....   think '200' for example.

p.s. the new 2015 200 will be a hit. The Cherokee is selling like hot cakes!    :2thumbs:

You know for the longest time i thought fiat went out of business in like the 80's, i have no idea they were still kicking until they got Chrysler

The point is that with these people continuing to milk classic nameplates like 300, Dart and "Charger," the idea that they may do something to negatively affect aftermarket support for heritage owners like ourselves is highly unlikely IMO.  This is why I say "it doesn't matter what they call themselves," because as long as I can have my classic Mopar experience the way I want it, I really don't care what they do with the company name, of all things...

For a while it was Daimler Chrysler, then it went back to just Chrysler.
Now it's Fiat Chrysler.
Meh. :shruggy:

It's all way beyond anything that really affects the era that I am interested in.
Didn't Chrysler own an interest in some fairly significant Italian marques in the past?

Lamborghini for a while.  Interestingly, during that period between Daimler and Fiat when they were just Chrysler, they were likely at the greatest risk.  That was the Cerebus period and they had no qualms about splitting the company up and selling it all off in pieces if need be.
