Regarding a 57 Chevy 2 door Bel Air, does anyone know what is more desirable/worth more, a post car or a non post car ? Thanks

I believe the bel air is the higher priced car. The sedans were called '210' or something....the non post cars are worth the most

You can get a post Bel Air (we had one , top of doors has chrome to make it look the same as hard top)

The hard top is worth more

150 was the lowes't,210 came seccond and Bel Air on top.
If the car has V-emblem on hood and trunk,it's a genuine V8 car.Or Vin starting with V-letter.

I had 2d 210 model many years NA-and blown,before i had my "Dark-period" on life and owned a Ford...-48 F1 Pick Up.Sold it and got my -70 500 :lol:

150 had simple trim on side and very short trims on top of fin's.
210 had same side trim as bel-air without centerpanel, and fintrims were longer than 150 but shorter than bel air

So you can make them look like what-ever just chancing trims :lol:

My car was 210 but with bel-air fin trims..

And hard top is worth more,but 2d is better on raceday :rofl:.Stiffer body..

I believe "desirability" is in the eye of the beholder, I used to shun post cars and now I shun hardtops. I believe hardtops will always have a higher resale value.

As a personal aside, I am so damn sick of tri-five Chevies I don't care if I ever see another one in my lifetime.  :RantExplode:

I doubt if there is much of a price difference when it comes to whether it has a post or not.  The only parameters that I see that affect prices are:   2 door or 4 door
                                  roof or convertible
                                  original or restomod
                                  If original, fuel injection or carb.
                                  Bel Aire or not

Your highest value car would be an original 57 Bel Aire convertible fuelie.

'57 210 sedans had the posts separating the door from the quarter window. The '57 Bel Air coupe models had no post just chrome framed window glass with weather striping in between. Coupes are far more valuable and desirable. Coupes also tended to come more trimmed out than sedans.  :Twocents:

back when I was 13, my Dad sold his '57 Bel Aire convert for $850....many many years ago.....I tried to find the car a couple of times....no luck...oh well

I couldn't bring myself to modify or hack an original '57 Bel Air coupe but I'd love to drop an old skool 427 4 gear into a '57 210 sedan. Oh yeah........just watch the panties fly as I drive by looking for a sweet thang to ride shotgun. Raw gasoline and split tail. That's what I'm talkin' about.

That Desoto is sexy!  I've always prefered the 58 chev to the 57 personally.  If I could have a chev of that era; 58 Impalla all day.

There are not to many pre 1965 cars I like,but the 57 Chevy is a timeless classic.My first choice would be the Nomad(2 door),not the 4 door version,it just looks awkward,as well as the 2 door Belair,don't care for the 150/210 sedans,would have to be a hardtop(without the pillar).It looks way sportier with the side open with no pillar there.
Fav colors,black w/black and red interior,or the turquois w/black and turquois interior. :drool5:

I always preferred the 57 Dodge for the best example of 50's glitz but it is hard to argue with the iconic status of the Tri-5 Chevy's.  I'd prefer one all stripped down though like the Two Lane Blacktop 55 shoebox or one of those 57 Black Widow things.

Don't forget there was a del-ray trim level also.  Used to have a 55.  Sold it to buy my first Charger.....
