Door Button Mechanism

The passenger door button on the outside of my 68 is having problems, I pushed it in to open the door and the button stayed in, I managed to pop it out again but now the button is just pushing in and out and not opening the door, does anyone have a diagram of the door mechanisms or any idea what the problem would be ? Thanks

There is a return spring in there so my first guess is that part of it broke.

Ok thanks, I will take the door card off when I get time and have a look, are those parts readily available ? I'm in England so I don't think anywhere over here would stock something like that

That's what was wrong with the drivers door handle on my 68. Mine was doing just as the OP's was, when I took it out, the spring was broken on the mechanism.
