hi.  im looking to get a hydroboost system for my 69 charger due to being done listening to the vacuum pump always running.  i have did search on where you guys have gotten them but the most resent that i found was back in 2013 where i asked the same question. i seen rms, hydratech and tallon.  any experience recently that you could recommend?

We run this set-up from Tallon Hydraulics.  I believe it is bit more affordable then the Hydratech version.  Been on the car for 3 years, flawless.  They have less expensive versions that use cast type masters.  That will be in the $700 range.  Comes with the adapter plates, lines, etc.

Can't recommend a recent purchase, but I got mine (Hydratech) a few years ago thru RMS. It was on my doorstep in just a few days, all hardware/lines/etc included, all new components. Very easy to install and a great upgrade.

Was it a bolt on, especially to the brake pedal, or were further modifications necessary?

No modifications needed, other than enlarging the holes in the firewall just slightly for the bolts to go thru.
You also need to reposition the brake light switch, but the provision holes are already on the bracket.

What's this hydroboost do-is it to help with more radical 'cams?

Among other things.  It requires no vacuum as it runs off the power steering pump.

The tallon one looks the same as rms' but cheaper is there a difference that explains the price difference?

No you can have your cake and eat it, but it'll mean running a pump, hooked up to your steering or not.

What if you hook up a Saginaw pump to the belts and the hydroboost but leave the steering manual?  I think that might work.

I priced all three different companies and what a difference in price. Tallon is $700 plus shipping, hydratech is $829 plus shipping and rms is $1195 plus shipping. The tallon comes with a cast iron mc, the hydratech comes with a plastic mc and rms comes with a machine wilwood mc for those prices, otherwise it seems like all 3 companies have the same parts in the kit. Although Tallon has a special for $100 more you can get the cast wilwood mc. I just don't understand why tallon is so much cheaper and such a big variance in prices.

A few of the guys that run Tallon were some the original guys from Hydratech.  They are really good guys to work with.  Just don't have the overhead that some of the other big companies have.  We run Tallon with the Wilwood MC.  Absolutely no issues.

Running hydro brakes and manual steering could be done, but I don't see the point.

By the time you've set up the PS pump for the hydro you have already done a big portion of the job of adding power steering.  If you went with a Borgeson power steering box then it wouldn't even be very much more weight to add.

If the drums are in perfect working order and you don't race, no.  If they need any work then I do think it's worth spending $600 or so for the rear discs.

yes  I know what your saying !!  guys !
i'm all ears with any information that any one wants to share about hydroboost ! while I know its the best plan, & seen a load of pictures on the internet , not had first hand experience with them !
yes if the rear drum set up is working ok !! doubt you will notice the difference between the two on the street ! but ! i'm thinking  because drums work or energize! think that it the correct word  :P at less pedal pressure than discs ,
i'm going to have to adjust the rear proportioning valve lot more reducing the pressure to the rear drums , i'm just guessing on this , if I don't , soon as I touch the brake pedal the rears are going to lock up  , figuratively of speaking !! sort of  defeats the object of hydroboost ,
if rear discs as well . be able to crank up the braking pressure to the rear ( as we all know ! while maintaining correct balance , with fronts getting the most pressure  &  get the full benefit from rear discs & four wheel discs stopping power,

like I say i'm no expert on hydroboost , this is just the stuff i'm thinking about  , prolly over thinking things like I always do & talking crap :icon_smile_blackeye: :P :shruggy:

Rear discs are planned for my car as well, but I don't know how high up the priority list they need to be.  I'm just on the streets right now, so I figure they can be one of the later 'mods...
