You people with different size tires front and rear, what do you carry for a spare as far as size?

Just 6T9 CHGR

Original F70-14 and a AAA card!  ;)

Have an original and a credit card which is nearly the same but I think I'd like to have a useable one for long hauls. :scratchchin:

if your car is a sure-grip...get a spare to match the rear size in total diameter...width makes no difference

Ghoste

It is and that makes perfect sense, thanks.  I was beginning to lean to the idea of one halfway between the two sizes but I understand why you would want the rear size with a limited slip.  Never even considered that Bryan.

stripedelete

What if you don't have a sure grip?    Match the front?

A383Wing

that depends on you...if size is an issue..and you have a real tall tire in back..the same height tire may not turn on the front...depends on the size difference I guess....

Dino

I'm in that boat.  I have the stock spare in the trunk, a relatively same height wheel up front but a way taller tire in the back.  Either the tire place will be close by so I can limp there or it'll be flatbed time when a rear tire goes.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

If it's an open diff, would my idea of something halfway between the two diameters work?

Jeep 155 90 16 on Town Car 16 X 4.5 aluminum wheel with the center register hogged out a couple thou.

27 inches with about 3/4 inch offset, if memory serves.

Big write up over on Moparts. Pretty sure I've post something here as well. I'll dig up a link later.

Still trying to find a suitable spare for my car.  Trying to match up fronts I figure if rears goes out the same size front should be able to drive her but damn putting a 30inch tire in trunk I never tried.

Ghoste

Do you have a Sure Grip?

Again, if you do not have a sure-grip, you can run any size tire for a spare you want.

If you had a sure-grip rear end, you should run the same size tire in height as the rear tires as not to tear up the clutches in the carrier if you have a flat on the back

Excellent I should put that sure grip in...damn.

It works for small nail and screw holes.  It's not really meant to "fix" the tire, but just seal it up enough so you can get it properly fixed at a tire store.  Tire places hate it.

polywideblock

they sell the goop over here for 4WD and its in there all the time just seals them as they come

I've used Goop in a minivan and thats about it.  I don't think I'd use it in the Charger unless it was my last resort.
