NOS Wingcar License plate hardware

Dont remember if these were found in a superbirds trunk .As they did ship the front spoiler in the trunk along with the front plate bracket.Required in some states that had rear plates only .Or got in small lot of NOS wingcar parts.But when the last time you seen this hardware package still sealed.Probably with 1970 air in it contents 2 nylon inserts 2 plate screws 1 rubber bumper for gas door which inserts in the bumper

Thats cool Bill did you notice the last part # one has a 285176  and other ends in a 285178.I bought this lot of wingstuff and that bag was in the mix

So if one ends in a 5 and the other in an 8. What are parts 6 and 7? anyone know?

I've seen vintage pics of a 'Bird with a license plate mounted on the top-side of the nose.  Is that where the original bracket was to be installed?

When I purchased mine in 1986, it came with a front license plate bracket mounted under the nose just in front of the spoiler.

I don't know about the rest of you, but in my opinion, mounting the plate there would definitely ruin the looks of the car.   I'd take my chances with getting a ticket for not having a front plate.

does the bracket NOT sit far enough to the leading edge to allow the plate to be bolted on through its top holes, and not the bottom ones like in that photo?

engineers probably thought mounting it on the top holes of the plate would block off air flow through the nose

It's a shame they didn't offer a front bumper to keep Maryland & D.C. happy.

Fugly!  But....it would have been nice to bolt it on and not be forced to fabricating one inside the nose like I had to do in 1986.

I bought a car, and Maryland would not let me drive it until the bumper was installed to their liking.

Only to find out a couple of years later (when Kevin Hurd tagged his in Maryland with no problem), that there was a front bumper exemption made in the mid-late 70's for vehicles manufactured in limited production numbers. I think it was 3,000 or less.

I run into Kevin Hurd at some shows.His car orig FJ5 from West Virginia or Beltsville MD I think.A friend of mine in MD had a daytona since 78 and sold few years ago

Kevin's was purchased somewhat disassembled. He would visit, taking pics and notes for his assembly.
