Checking for bad relay/toggle switch

Need to know how to check for a possible bad toggle switch or relay.  My fuel pump stopped working (it's only 1 year old).  I've got power from the battery to the relay, also from the relay to the toggle switch, but the 8 gauge wire from the relay to the toggle switch terminal is dead.  The fuse is good and the connection from the toggle switch to the fuse box is a good clean wire.  I'm thinking it's a bad toggle switch.  How do you bench test a toggle switch?  Am I on the right track?  Thanks.

yer running 8 gauge wire? seems a little over kill to me

use a test light, test both side of toggle switch with light when switch is in off & on..should have power to both sides when switched on

383...yeah it is but it's the only wire I had at the time.  The toggle switch is dead on every terminal. On and off. Problem solved??

uh, no....you need power to the toggle switch first in order to turn on the relay...if no power before switch, yer never gonna get power out of the switch going to the relay

Ok, I  have power going to the relay (4 post), but the red wire from the relay going to the toggle switch is dead.  Bad relay then?

you have to have power from 12v to switch, then turn switch on...then you should have power from switch to relay to activate it...see pic below

put stock pump back on..problem solved

Thanks!! Oh and I'll just put the stock fuel system back in...should take about an hour right?

if you are having issues trying to diagnose a simple toggle switch, I'm unsure as to how long it will take you to put a stock fuel pump back on

Dayum...where is the sarcasm emoticon when you need it?? :shruggy:
