Lordy, when will the madness end?

Personally, I'm sick and tired of bozos who can't drive as the law requires in most States, slow traffic to the right, left lane for passing only. Those that don't adhere to this create nothing but barriers of traffic flow..   :brickwall:

Now, it is bozos who impose their relentless craving for interaction of their dang cell phones......... Leave the freakin' things on vibrate when in public and turn them off or put them in your purses or pockets...... Don't distract the other people around you with your selfish activity......  :flame:

Sucks, apparently made that dude on the news go over the edge..........

I agree, you pay to see a show and jerks even show up late and use phones for flashlights. The jerk who got in my face after the movie ended because I told his punk son to stop texting his friend 1 seat away from him (After 10 minutes of this going on.) changed his threat from "beat my ass for not being polite to his son" to just leave after he picked himself up from me knocking him across the isle. I had 50 or 60 witnesses who saw everything, him talking on his phone during the show, his kid and friend ringing back and forth over and over then him getting inches from my face ranting. I told him he was a rude poor example for all children and now expecting me to be polite was unacceptable. My daughter picked up on the texting.....the friend was complaining that he had to sit next to the kids A-hole dad! The kid (15 or so.) ran up and spit on me then turned to spit on my daughter...so he ended up on his butt also. I'm not proud of it but I'm not afraid to protect myself and my children.
The ex cop who shot was provoked by another jerk, he claimed to be texting his 3 year old. (Really a 3 year old?) He was asked to stop during previews and dumped popcorn on the shooter. The ex cop snapped and that is NOT acceptable but I can relate to a point, he'd had a perfect case for assault and with witnesses had the guy arrested.
I go to the movies with the mindset I may move around in the seating to avoid jerks, it's just part of today I even had a guy walk up 5 minutes into the feature film and start to sit on me!  I'm thinking of bringing a lazer pointer to shine on cellphone jerks.... :D

Oh i hate that as well! You try to have a good time and some clown talks loud during the movie and they get offended if someone says something!

Why can't they scramble the mobile phones in the cinemas?Or have a rule that if you are caught using it during a film then they will escort you out!
This shows the complete disregard for others! What a role model.Kids like his end up playing sucker punch!

Wow, funny this thread shows up today.

As for the left lane speeders......
as part of law enforcement, there is NO SUCH THING AS THE FAST lane...
im doing my 5 over, and it never fails....some douchebag usually from up north, just has to ride my ass as if doing the 5 over aint good enough....

Well, karma must been on my side as bout the time this dude blows round me in his BMW, black ice...........
Down through the median, and rolls it bout five times landing on the wheels.
I roll up, see dude cussing at me!??
I begin to ask if dude is ok and he begins to tell ME how I caused the accident by driving too slow....
well, that bout made me mad enough to bite a hole in a milk bucket.
I calmly began to wonder if bitch smackin this yankee ass, and wondering if the accident would hide the damage, and decided to take the high road. I walked over Calmly to my truck and called 911 and informed the state police the driver musta been high on drugs as he was speeding, driving irrationally.
Once he saw I was carrying though, he was appologetic.

:2thumbs:  I would have felt the same way but getting the guy help in case he was hurt is the right thing to do. I also would not help him when it came to the cause of the  wreck.  He paid with the damage to his car but needs to pay the rest of the bill for his behavior.

Cooter gets a huge HOORAY FOR YOU!!!  It's now possible in FL. to get a ticket for obstructing traffic by driving too slow, something long needed in this state. After my 3 tickets I took the safety course each time, even for the no seat belt one. I helped me understand how driving with any "emotional influence" was just plain dangerous. One ticket I was rushing to get my son to school and me to my job, the other was just plain joy banging my little Jeep through the gears not paying attention. Both speeding tickets were "iffy" at best, I might have fought them and won as they were in transition zones for speed but I thought it best to turn inward as I'd had no tickets in many years. (Never in the Charger.)
With my Charger stuck at the end of a large sweeping curve, next to a steel guard rail approaching a small bridge for almost 2 full hours waiting for a tow I watched in horror as time and time emotional drivers, not seeing me at the end of the curve would speed up and dive into the outside lane of the three lane wide road I was stuck at only to have to slam on the brakes and/or cut back into the flow around me. Every one that did this was rage driven, you could see it in their faces just as the courses described...Honking, flipping the bird and screaming mad. What I did learn is if stuck in/on the road in traffic call police FIRST then towing. Cooter had total correct thinking...call 911, good for you! Even with just a 2 mile trip to and from work 5 days a week I see it every day, emotional driving.

Um, you are wrong about the "fast lane" (or "passing lane").  There are signs on highways all over this country that say "stay right except to pass". Here in Ohio you can be cited for impeding traffic. I doubt anyone has ever gotten a ticket for it though.

I drive fast and and get annoyed by people who swerve into the left lane(s) for no apparent reason or drive along for miles oblivious to the fact that everyone else is passing them on the right. It never fails that they then almost miss their exit and veer across 3 lanes of faster traffic without looking behind them. While I drive fast I also don't drive like an idiot. I give people lots of space and pay attention to my surroundings (checking/scanning mirrors regularly and the ability to turn your head are excellent skills to master before driving a vehicle!). Obviously not everyone else does...

Correct Troy, "They" know exactly what they are doing when pulling that slow crap and it also is emotion based, forcing control. I caught my neighbor in a conversation explaining with glee how she teamed up with another car to force a rolling roadblock in rush hour traffic. She claimed to be enforcing the speed limit but it was clear from her on the phone bragging the devil was at play. I sternly warned her how dangerous it was to play that game, not just from getting shot at but creating a situation behind her where others (Like children!) could be caught up in accidents from hot heads mistakes. She was a crossing guard for school and did security at the ball park and admitted she hadn't considered her effects fully.

Troy

I know. Self importance. My dad told me once about slowing down or slamming on his brakes in front of tailgaters. While I detest tailgating, once I pointed out the the car in the front end of a high speed "bump" never fares well he decided that moving over might be a better plan. It just takes a little humility and respect - which is a lot to ask these days...

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Lord Warlock

I've always found that riding too close to the traffic roadblocker as well as having the fender of my car 2 inches to the left of the side of their car almost always urges them to move out of my way,  Most drivers have a comfort zone with tailgaters and those that get closer will nudge them out of the way.  There are exceptions though, some just don't care and feel they should be able to cruise in the passing lane.  On my last trip across the state for the holidays, people 200 yards ahead of me would see my bright yellow challenger r/t coming and would move over to let me by, then as soon as i went by they'd merge back to the right.  Was kind of fun watching people move out of the way.

What bugs me the most is Prius owners cruising in the passing lane at 5mph over the limit or holding right at the speed limit thinking they are perfectly ok doing so.  Even with a right lane that is clear  of traffic.  Just makes the rest of us drive unsafe by passing people on the right.  I think the Prius should incorporate technology to force the car to only drive on the right lane or force it into gas mode when in left lane. Penalize the Prius owners!

Have no problem with people trying to save money on gas driving hybrids, even understand many don't need power to pass, but stay out of the left lane.  When I speed on the highway I always pass on the left and move over to the right as soon as I get past the slower moving traffic, it tends to make cops not pick you out for speeding even if you're doing 85 or higher.

I feel that when someone is on your ass in the fast lane the thing to do is move to the right to let them by. It does not matter what speed we are doing.

If someone in the left lane is going 5 or even 20 mph over it doesn't matter. The jackass behind wants to move on.

If we don't move over they will want to pass on the right and maybe express their arrogance as they do so. (road rage being born).

These are the kind of drivers I want distance from.  And after all in these cases their are others around us that are dealing with the situation at the same time and we are not all on the same page.

Trying to teach someone a lesson in heavy traffic is not worth the effort.

No idea where you're getting your version of the law from... and when did you get put in charge of the highway? Slower traffic means people moving at 5 mph under the speed limit? Says who? I'd love to see the statute. Slower means slower. Kinda simple.

So I guess it's ok to ignore the law just to keep someone else from breaking it? Awesome! Next time I see a semi going up a large hill in the left lane I think I'll pull in front of him and jam on the brakes until he gets in the proper lane. That should end well!

Traffic engineers supposedly spend lots of time designing roads and highways to keep the flow moving. It only works when people actually drive the way the roads were designed. A slow car in a fast lane causes lots of "brake checks" - not only by people behind having to slow down but by people in the other lanes when faster traffic has to "cut over" to avoid the slow car driving in the wrong lane. So now you've got miles of traffic hitting their brakes for no apparent reason. And then people whine about rush hour traffic...

If There are 2 cars on the road (me being one of them) and there's a slow car in the left lane I don't care because I'll be in the right going faster. If there's light traffic and I'm coming up on a slower car in the left lane I'll pass on the right. I shouldn't have to! If the right lane is clear then why is the moron driving in the left lane??? When traffic is heavy all lanes should be full. There isn't a "fast lane", "passing lane" or "slow lane". It's like a big pipe - fill every space available to fit as many cars on the road as possible. If they all move at a reasonable speed then, in theory, everyone could move the speed limit and get to work just fine. In reality, it doesn't work that way.

Another engineer nightmare: in a construction zones where a lane ends people merge 2 miles ahead of time and block traffic from passing. That just makes the zone longer! The engineers would appreciate it if you'd use all lanes until the merge then actually merge (at speed) - NOT slam on the brakes and whip into traffic at a vastly different speed than it's moving.

It's not that hard if you drive with any common courtesy and common sense at all...

The real test is surviving the streets of Tijuana.  Green means go, yellow means go, red means go, and consequently all of those colors can also mean slow down or stop, depending on what mood you're in at that moment.

Why is everyone so mad on the roads.  If someone's driving like a 'tard let 'em; just get out of their way and let someone else worry about them or let them wreck-that's what I do.  No point in getting mad and turning on the supercharger "Road Warrior" style when there will always be bad/murderous drivers...

I appreciate Troy's post and there is common sense there.

Our emotions on the road don't match the emotions of those around us so we are left with the protocol that the rules of the road give us.

Screw the law--what is important is that we all drive by the same rules. Those that want to express them selves as law enforcers will gum up the flow of traffic and piss off many. It is not their place to screw things up.

The way traffic moves best is when every one does the right thing at the right time. ----We all know what those things are----

If you want to be a traffic cop go to school and become one. Otherwise get the f-ck out of the way.

Lord Warlock

Sorry Cooter,  I respect you on the board, but if you're cruising at 5mph over the limit in florida, you are impeding traffic and causing a safety hazard.  People here drive 15 mph over the limit in bumper to bumper traffic, the cops will not ticket you for speeding on the highway until you go 20 over the limit, I know this because i've talked to the cops, my father in law was a county sheriff, his son is also a cop. (and I was law enforcement in the military)  Slower traffic is supposed to be in the right lane, if someone is going faster than you are, you should move over, I do whatever speed i'm driving at the time... even if i'm doing 20 over the limit, whatever speed I am personally going does not give me the right to impede others who want to go faster than me.  (unless it makes me get behind a Prius and then i'll stay in the fast lane till i pass the Prius and move over.) Thats like saying everyone should slow down to 10mph and turn on flashers when it is raining, because you personally do not feel it is safe, does not  mean the rest of us cannot see better, have our wipers on a slightly faster speed, or have better rubber on our tires than you do.  I may slow down in very hard rain, but I do NOT drive 5mph in the fast lane while doing so.  Obviously you live up north a bit because you mentioned black ice, which to the unintiated is ICE on the road that you cannot see even with perfect eyesight, I've encountered it before and slid off the road by it and i was driving 10mph UNDER the limit when i lost control.  If he indeed hit black ice, you could very well have ended the same way as he did.

Try brake checking me, I'll plow your car off the road, and keep going without stopping.  People who brake check people deserve the road rage people display, which usually results in unnecessary gun play.  I've had people brake check before, they don't realize that my car can stop as fast or faster than theirs can, and all i'll do is pass you, get in front of you, and brake check you right back...then when you hit me, I'll sue your ass to teach you a lesson.  You do realize however, that brake checking someone is considered to be a law violation? it is driving recklessly and you can and WILL be ticketed if a cop catches you doing so.  At least the cops down here will.   Most of the time, I have no problem passing folks on either side.  People generally are quite shocked to see someone actually go on the shoulder to pass them, or drive in the median to pass (i've done it before to an asshat intentionally blocking lane traffic, and brake checking those of us who aren't interested in the scenery or their belief that 5mph is plenty fast and the other 90% of drivers all doing 15 over are unsafe or driving recklessly.  People who drive 5mph over, should stay off of Interstate highways, and just stick to two lane roads.  Everyone is safer that way.  By the way, I haven't been ticketed in over 15 years now, have never had an accident on the roads (i've had all my accidents in my own driveway).  I do not consider doing a 360 spin on black ice to be an accident, that was an act of god, and the only damage was a bumper guard that hit a cinderblock on the edge of the road near a mailbox, I missed the mailbox, didn't scratch the bumper, but realizeed the bumper guard was gone the next day and drove back to get it.

Maybe in Pennsylvania, New York, DC or New England, 5 mph is considered an adequate speed  on a road designed to handle speeds in triple digits safely.  But that isn't how its interpreted elsewhere.  All it does is prove to others you have no respect for their right to make a decision on what is safe and what isn't.  And others may or may not have just as much or more training in how to drive than you have.

Prius drivers are fckin notorious for thinking they are fast and furious on the road.  I think its because they bought a car they hate or wanted a fast car and was forced to buy a prius if im hitting 85 in the charger there is always a fckin prius trying to outdo me and hitting 95 plus just to pass me and give me a smug look like they are the ones driving the charger or something.

In my neck of the woods, it's the Prius owners that are driving 85 mph. :P  So much for wanting to save the planet.

No idea where you're getting your version of the law from...Virginia and "common sense" on the road as you seem to state
and when did you get put in charge of the highway?Since Yankees have come here to my town where we drive safe and have state inspections to keep our cars some of the safest on the road. We don't drive like you Yankees. we don't tailgate, we don't ride up behind someone with the f'n high beams on. Etc. Etc.
Slower traffic means people moving at 5 mph under the speed limit? Says who? I'd love to see the statute. Slower means slower. Kinda simple.Since you feel the need to use a CLEAR EXAMPLE, and NOT "the Law", I'll point it out for you again. It was an example...We actually have Tractors on the highways doing 25 MPH in the far right lane, but I wasn't gonna bring that up, because many Yankees have never seen a tractor.

So I guess it's ok to ignore the law just to keep someone else from breaking it?AGAIN, what law? You mean the law of the Yankees that drive like their insane? If so, pull that sh*t in Va. buddy, and you will have a harder time convincing our judges/cops than your sheeple here. I realize it is different everywhere else, I never said people drive safely all over the country, just here. HERE...You need me to say it again? HERE....
Awesome! Next time I see a semi going up a large hill in the left lane I think I'll pull in front of him and jam on the brakes until he gets in the proper lane. That should end well!Actually, most of the Semi's round here drive safer than most of the idiots like many in this thread, on the roads. And talk about common sense, most truckers drive safer than all Yankees put together. Although, in recent years, there have been the hiring of some illegals who have caused many a high dollar settlement from insurance companies. Maybe more drivers need a wake up call to slow down like the truckers? Remember, you don't own the road no matter how many little "Followers" you have breaking the same laws.

And then people whine about rush hour traffic...Slower than the posted limit in the "Fast Lane" isn't my beef here. It's insanely fast drivers thinking they can shove everybody else off the road. I mean, where does it end?? F*ck it, let's just drive at 140 MPH and everybody else like "Cooter" driving his 75 Mph in a 65 MPh zone can just "Get out of our way"...Sorry killer, but just because it's "Accepted" by the "Majority" doesn't mean it correct, Or the "law" unwritten or not. Engineers NEVER designed a given highway to be over crouded as they are today with more and more drivers being added everyday. People will be forced to slow down sooner or later once the law suits begin to call attention to these rogue speedy Gonzales'.

If There are 2 cars on the road (me being one of them) and there's a slow car in the left lane I don't care because I'll be in the right going faster. If there's light traffic and I'm coming up on a slower car in the left lane I'll pass on the right. I shouldn't have to! Says Who? Since when are you the expert on how to pass or where? There's A lot of things I sahouldn't have to do, but Just like you, I have to do them anyway. Deal with it.
In reality, it doesn't work that way.Key phrase is "In Theory"..Again, as stated, more and more people are being added everyday. Therefore, this makes you argument invalid. If I'm driving the safer speed on a given road, you are clearly driving at an unsafe speed, even though you have the "majority" [Ghoste, you see what I mean NOW?], I WILL NOT be the one at fault when something happens because you simply think you shouldn't have to drive at a safer speed. Just TRY explaining that to the local cops and judges here slick. In fact, I'd love to hear your argument get shot down like a WWII fighter plane over Germany.

Another engineer nightmare: in a construction zones where a lane ends people merge 2 miles ahead of time and block traffic from passing. That just makes the zone longer! The engineers would appreciate it if you'd use all lanes until the merge then actually merge (at speed) - NOT slam on the brakes and whip into traffic at a vastly different speed than it's moving.AGAIN, who says? YOU? With your common sense? Ok, then professor, Let's test that theory. This is a pet peeve of mine, you knew it, therefore, you brought it up....Lets say you and everybody else just ran right up to those barriers and began to try and cram your way into traffic that CLEARLY got over because inevidably, there is always one moron who runs right up to them and forces his/her way into traffic causing the entire line to SLOW DOWN IF everybody Did this same thing to keep the Line "Shorter"?? WTF?....The Engineers designed Construction barriers to be a WARNING to get over early and avoid the last minute cram into traffic. Therefore, your argument here is invalid as well.

It's not that hard if you drive with any common courtesy and common sense at all...No argument here. Only disagreements on your Idea of Common sense when your breaking the law. Laws put into place weren't put there Just in case a cop was behind you. I sincerely believe if this obviously wasn't such a sore spot with you Troy, I think you completely understand my point as I've made it. However, ity is, and therefore, you in classic forum style, begin with the Taking what's said out of context and posting a reply which you know will gain support for your case. I had you figured better than that...I don't know why, but I did.

Funny, as with Troy, Just because you seem to think you have the "majority" because the "majority" drives at insane speeds as you, that doesn't mean your correct. Also, in turn, doesn't mean I'm in the wrong. Afterall, when standing in front of the Judge, I'll speak my peace about doing my 5 over and you'll speak your peace about doing your 30 Mph over and we'll see who comes out on top in the end. (Your argument about being able to see better in the rain just might sway the Judge round here. You never know :2thumbs:) You can argue with me, but I have a feeling your attitude changes just like everybody else, but once your looking at a ticket for reckless driving/possible loss of driving license/ and or fines, your the first to cry "I can't believe that assh*le cop wrote me a ticket" along with the rest of the croud.. I learned A LONG TIME ago not to argue with the law. The LAW always wins...You Yankees having figured that out. And before you go with that lame ass "I live in Florida! LMAO! That's bout as far south as one can get!" Bullsh*t, There's more Northern Yankees down there thatn I can shake a stick at... it's like the next Michigan/Boston down there. Never heard so many yankee accents.

Try brake checking me, I'll plow your car off the road, and keep going without stopping. Yep, and when your standing in Judge, I'd like to hear you explain that one. I braked for a deer that YOU didn't see, and You killed my ole lady/family member? You better hope You keep going. "Everybody's a badass, until they run into one". That is a direct quote. Look it up.
People who brake check people deserve the road rage people display, which usually results in unnecessary gun play.  I call bullsh*t. Once the fact that people like YOU speed at insane speeds comnes into the light by the media that same way "Bullying" just 10 short years ago was all but unheard of, then you'll see tougher laws...Until then, remember pal, I'm not the only one...There's a whole demographic out there that thinks you blowing by everybody and forcing them out of "Your" way like you own the highway, is arrogant... Good luck, and be safe.
I've had people brake check before, they don't realize that my car can stop as fast or faster than theirs can, and all i'll do is pass you, get in front of you, and brake check you right back...then when you hit me, I'll sue your ass to teach you a lesson. Burden of proof lies with the law breaker/accuser. What says I let you fly around me? What says I haven't already reported you driving like a maniac, tailgating, and being an overall "Bully" on the road, to the local police and have it all on record, so when you attempt to "Brake check" me,  YOU instigated the whole thing and wasn't driving at a safe following distance and speed. This guy must be part of the "Swoop and squat" teams. You need to arrest him officer...That game is played both ways killer. Again, everybody's a badass until they meet one. Ever pulled time? Ever been shot? I have....Try me.
You do realize however, that brake checking someone is considered to be a law violation? it is driving recklessly and you can and WILL be ticketed if a cop catches you doing so. I guess in your case, there's never a cop around when YOU need one then.
Says Who? I'd love to see that Law/statute...Face it killer, you might be a badass today, tomorrow, maybe even the next day, but sooner or later, you Will run up on someone, who will pull your card. Again, where does this "Unwritten" rule of yours/everybody's end? Why is it "Only" 15 MPH over? Why not triple speeds like you mentioned???

So your saying you know more than the engineers that designed the road. Somehow, YOU can somehow over rule the engineers/Law makers who designed?set that road's safest speed. You gotta be kidding?  because you have ALOT of the "Majority" [ Ghoste? you see what I'm talking bout now??] opinion on this, you actually think because the Speed limit signes are put there for a reason, yet,  they were designed for "Triple Speeds"? Easily?   Guy, that right there shows you have no common sense. Those speeds were put in place due to the amount of automobiles on the road, and what that road designed by the engineers will handle. And others may or may not have just as much or more training in how to drive than you have. This I will give you, but that there in itself is my whole point. WTF are they drving at insane levels because it's the "Norm" because everybody else is doing it? If they have a lack of skills, they should be off the highway.
