Well,i'm sitting at home with my back hurting a lot.Just went to the docter and said i should take it easy.So now i have the time to make my own topic about my charger.

It all started when i was 21.
The first american made car i bought was a 1976 dodge w200.It was a good running car, that needed some minor work to be a great driver.I drove that car for a year and a half and decided to sell it.The neighbourhood was complaning and said that such a big car didn't fit in our streetview. And for me it was time to look at something different. But after a few weeks i started to regret that i sold it,and i was really starting to miss that car. :icon_smile_blackeye: So i found another one and i bought it :coolgleamA: I didn't care what the neighborhood said, and i loved that car.But after a year or so when i just had it build the way i wanted it to,i got pulled over by a guy,and he asked me if i want to sell my car.I said no so that's it i thought. The next week my mom told me when i came home for work, there was a couple of guys at the house looking at my car and they ringed the doorbell. But my mom didn't open cause she didn't know the guys. The next Saturday the same guys came by again and i was home working on my car.The friendly introduced themselves and asked me if i want to sell my car.Again said no.I had a lot of work in it.I put a rollbar, pushbar, lights, hummertyres, dual exhaust,cb,stereo, etc, etc in it,and it was exactly the way i wanted it to be.The he asked me: what do you want for it?Again i said no,but he still wanted to know  :shruggy: So i named a price, and i thought that will shut him up,and i was right  :icon_smile_big: So they left  :yesnod: A hour later the Phone rang  :brickwall:,and he asked me if the price was negotiable. I said no.Then he said, oke i want it.... :o Damn...he was so in love with my car,he just has to have it. :-\ .

So with money burning in my pocket,i was starting to look at another car to replace it. ;D

First i looked at a 1969 Chevelle,then a 1969 Firebird but i didn't get that "feeling" ( you guys know what i mean )
Then a few weeks later i went to a carshow, and that's when i saw the first charger in real life :drool5: It was a orange 68 and i was completely in love with that bodystyle.Offcourse when i was 8 years old i watched the dukes of hazzard too,but i Always thought a 2nd gen charger was out of my league.
But i started looking just to see if i can find one.A few weeks later there she was,a 1970 charger 500 with 383 bigblock, automatic transmission console car.It was b5 blue with white interiour and white vinyltop.A flipper just 15 miles away from me had it listed for sale. :drool5:It needed total restoration, but i didn't care.I could fix it :yesnod:

More to come

I completely took this car apart to do a full restoration on it  :icon_smile_tongue:
But as years go by and i had to move the car 5 times to different locations, there was one point i didn't have the energy to work on it anymore. So the project ended up dead. :'(
I have had it painted, and bought a bunch of new parts for it in the time i've had it.
Knowing somewhere in my mind i will not able to finish the charger,i decided to put it up for sale :icon_smile_blackeye:
A few weeks later,a guy from the same town i live in ( who i know ) had a 70 r/t.When he bought it,it was in worse shape then he thought it would be.
So he bought mine and after 11 years, and my 70 charger was gone. :icon_smile_dissapprove:

In the 11 years i've owned my 1970 charger,i bought a 69 coronet 440 with 383 auto on the column for a nice deal  :2thumbs:
But my heart was lying with my charger,so i sold it and put that money in the charger. At least that was the meaning  :icon_smile_blackeye:
I still regret i sold that coronet  :brickwall:

But back on topic: :popcrn:

When i sold my 70 charger,i was looking for another one,and this time it had to be the car that i Always wanted since i was 8 years old  :yesnod:
And that was a 1969 charger  :coolgleamA:.For me it always was the nicest modelyear, period. :slap:

First i wanted a "regular" car,but it had te be a bigblock car,and i prefferd a 4 speed. :icon_smile_cool:
Thanks to this awesome website i've ended up with a genuie R/T 4 speed charger... :drool5:
I was not looking for a project again, but just a nice driver so i could enjoy driving it whenever and wherever i wanted.
But after i bought this car, there had to be done a lot of things too,to have it roadworthy again  :o
At first i was kind of dissapointed, but then i've got myself together and started making a list on what to do  :scratchchin:
So far i have done the following things:

New cowl support
Moparperformance valvecovers and airfilter
New dual exhaust
new dash and engine wiringharnesses
Firecore50 RTR distrubitor
Tuffstuff 100 amp Altenator
Changed the front drumbrakes with Wilwood discbrakes
New brake master cilinder
paintjob ( for the time being )
Vectorwheels with new tyres

Porting a set of 906 heads and have the shaved a little.
Put in another camshaft, but i don't know yet wich one i'm going to get
Replace the inside of the glovebox
fix the parkingbrake assembly
put in a new speedocable
put in a new turnsignal switch in the column
Complete some of the trim i'm missing
Put in the centerforce clutch
replace my pos edelbrock 750 carb, for a brand new proform 750 with mechanical sec. :icon_smile_tongue:

My future plans are:

Welding in new front floorpans, frame connectors, torqueboxes, radiatorsupport and innerfendertubes  :2thumbs:

Putting in a new front swaybar,rear swaybar,tubular controlarms,polyeurethane bushings,new heavyduty leafsprings.

Have everything rechromed and have it painted again, but then the "right" way.  :2thumbs:
I found out my car is original R6 red,but i'm thinking of painting her the orange color of a 2005 dodge ram daytona  :drool5:
I personally think that color looks awesome with the black interiour and black R/T stripe  :yesnod:

That's it for now guys,
If i have updates i will post them in this topic. :2thumbs:

Great story John...  I too LOVE the 2nd Gen cars...  But they are not in the budget for me today...

six-tee-nine

Great story...

I now understand why you told me to keep my car last year when I advertised it for sale. I felt exactly like you did back then with your '70

Oh BTW tell your neigbours to go f**k themselves, some nerve people have these days.....
Greetings from Belgium, the beer country

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...
