How can I tell what date code I have on an alternator?

I am trying to figure out how to date code some alternators that I have but I am not sure what to look for or how to read it. Here are some pictures of one of them.   The part # on the front (pulley side) is 2095191. The part Number on the back side is 2095192. Is this correct or has the alternator been rebuilt before and two different part #'s were used? The 3rd pic is of the What I think is the date code and the fourth pic is of the back date code. If the part numbers are diffrent from front to back will the date codes also be different or should they be the same. thanks

For the one I can make out;

65 at center = 1965.

9th box has tick marks, so September.

September of 1965 was within the 1966 model year. (New model years typically started in August, but there are exceptions.)

Quotehas the alternator been rebuilt before

It has not been rebuilt, it still have the factory style cap at rear center. Re-builders us a plainer cap.

And the two different part numbers on the front and back are correct?

A383Wing

probably...they used this style from early 60's until 1969

The actual number and assembly date is on a pad on the side of the casting. The casting #s of the front and rear castings don't mean as much. I'll see if I can find a pic...

Here you go

2642537 is the correct standard alternator for a 68/69 car

This one has a date of 20th week of 69

Ok thanks. I was wondering what those numbers were. That clears it up how to date code an alternator. Here is a picture of mine for another example. So The part # is 2098830 And the date it was assembled was the 38th week of 1965. Thanks for the help.  :2thumbs:
