Those 2nd Gen owners who live in states requiring a front license plate, how/where did you mount yours?

In the stock location with a factory mounting bracket. :icon_smile_big:

Front Plate ???  I don't need no stinking front plate. Of course unless it's a Direct Connection Mopar plate.  ;D

Never used a legit front plate on any of my cars. Never been hassled either.

Stock location & bracket.  The plate itself, however, is a reproduction of the old CA yellow-on-black, says just: 1969.  My restored original black plate, with my legit plate number, is on the back of the car.  While the front plate is not stock, the the cops have never hassled me about it.

Lately I have been running around with the 1969 script plate with my regular plate underneath it......no trouble from the man.....yet

I run the same plate on the front as Chris - the 1969 script plate.  Missouri normally requires 2 plates, but they also have the Year-Of-Manufacture option.  Oddly enough, MO only had a single plate back in '69, so I'm perfectly legal with the single plate in the rear.  That'll be a relief when I get the Daytona done, since I can do the same single plate Y-O-M registration for it, and just skip the front plate altogether.

Can you believe that Chrysler actually intended for the Superbird's license plate bracket to be mounted on TOP of the nosecone, almost like a hood ornament??  They'd have to shoot me first before drilling holes like that on my car...

Maryland has it set up where you can put the old expired plates on the cars, We use to get new plates every year.  they expired every march.

In Ohio we are one of the assbackwards states still using two plates. I use historicall plates that have a one time fee of $45 I think with no tags to replace each year, its not a bad deal.

I got the front license plate bracket from Year One, when I should have just made my own..oh well.

What a deal!  In Colorado, not only do we have to put two plates on our classic cars, but the classic plates are a 5 year registration fee of $130, after which you have to pony up that much again  :rotz: :flame:

Collector car plate in rear only, never have to pay for tabs once car is originally licensed.

Regular cars have to have front and rear, but I haven't had a front one for a couple years on my daily driver and cops haven't said anything.  yet.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.

In NJ, a front plate is required, but cops don't bust your chops if you have a somewhat decent looking ride. I think if I rode around in a beater with a custom front plate, they would grab me. I have been through inspection check points and breezed right through them.

Don't try it in Wisconsin. Two plates are required and they better be the correct ones.

I have one friend in his late 40's with a '64 Impala that was just cruising around but, he had left his "64 SS" plate on the front after the last show. He got pulled over by State Patrol and fined for illegal plates. Two weeks later his son took out another one of his show cars and got the same fine again.  Needless to say all those custom plates are on the garage wall now.

My wife got pulled over because we bought a southern car without a front bracket and before we located one(took a couple weeks) the cop pulled her over and gave her a warning. My sister got pulled over when the front plate was in the windshield on another car we got down south. My dad has also been pulled over and warned to get a plate on his '71 Charger. He hasn't done it yet though.

All of these were from local, county and state cops so it must be a hot topic.

in Bama they don't require a front tag, a guy I know found an old 69 alabama tag and give to me, In alabama the first 2 digits are a county number I live in Lauderdale so 41 is the first 2 digits, and the old 69 tag is a 41 tag also. I thought that was cool of him, I plan on using that for a front tag.

If there are any OHIO fellas out there I have two matching 1969 plates.  I know some guys register thier cars with the old ones and these are just sitting in my garage so gimmie a PM and we can work something out.  Sorry not trying to jack the thread.  :icon_smile_tongue:

This ticket is only $69.00 ?  If I'd have known that I'd have been going FASTER !

Im in Ohio.  Mine is registered as a historical and then I am registered to run my model year plates.  I do have them front and rear though.  Only requirement is that the historical plates have to be in the vehicle so the police can run them if I get pulled over.  If they run the numbers on the historical plates they dont come back to my car because that number is also in existence on a newer vehicle.  No problems so far...

From a police standpoint, front plates are a GREAT idea.  From a car enthusiast's standpoint, front plates SUCK.  Seriously ruin the front of a car.  Two of my cars have Confederate battle flags the third switches between various black/white skull themed plates.

Chris, yes it is true that in NJ you are required to have a front and back license plate.  The EXCEPTION is historic plates such as registrations that start out with QQ or have HISTORIC or CLASSIC or ANTIQUE under the plate number.  These exceptions are allowed to only have a rear plate displayed.  I have a copy somewhere of the NJ State statute that explains it further somewhere.  The other nice thing about NJ QQ plates is that you only pay for the first time when you get the plates and renewals are once every 3 years.  Upon renewals, it is no fee and you just have to send the registration card back in.  That is until the state finds out they can make a buck on us. :icon_smile_dissapprove:
