Lone Survivor pretty good

while I wouldn't say it was the best war movie I've ever seen it was very good. I will say the sound of gunfire was the most realistic I've seen/heard in a movie

How does it compare to the movie Act of Valor? Or Blackhawk Down?

I didn't see acts of Valor, but I'd put it just below Black hawk down (BHD) because BHD had more continuous action. Lone Survivor had more story line.

I read the book when it was released in paperback.

Few flicks ever standup to the book upon which they are based.

I'm sure this movie will shy in comparison too however Mark Wahlburg is one of those actors I'll see
in any movie he's in.........Morgan Freeman....Robert DeNiro......Jack Nickleson......et al and of course Jennifer Lawrence only because as a decent guy I have to include my GF.  .  I love her quiver!

The real deal Wahlburg plays is a huge dude who was awarded the Navy Cross for his actions during that hell mission.
Lt. Mike Murphy was awarded the CMH same same posthumously.

All I can say is read the book.
