I installed a Petronix Igniter 2 system on my car.  It is a 70 Superbird, 440, 4 barrel, 4 speed car.  The tick, tock, tack was working but has now stopped working.  I have had the tack updated with a new face plate and the clock has been updated to a quartz movement instead of the old mechanical.  The clock still works.  The tach is getting a signal of 12 or 13 volts from the engine.  Has anyone had this problem with the Petronix sytem eating tacks?

Yep, with the factory tach on my 67.  That is why I took that off and sent it back.
When I called Pertronix they wanted me to go to Radio Shack and buy parts to explain how to modify my system.  I stopped the guy and asked for a RMA for my money back.
Worked fine as soon as I took it off.
I installed the Mopar performance system and all is fine.

Could it be that the Pertronix system needs a tach adapter like MSD offers?  :shruggy:

Maybe.
The other issue with the Pertronix system (and I am not sure about the newer versions) but the old one was if you left the key in the accessories position, you would burn up the pick up or something would burn up.  That is even on their website.
Either way, I took it off - I wouldn't use it.

not a problem as far they provide that... not if you have to build it as Bob mentioned

Was the tach circuit board also updated?
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
