An other '69 for sale with new paint

What is it with cars for sale with brand new paint?Is it to hide bad metal work or rust?
Why don't they just leave it original?

Used to be called a $1000 paint job; as in, it adds a grand to the sale price. 
With today's EPA etc.........perhaps it's a $10,000 paint job

Why don't they just leave it original?

Don't think they can sell it unpainted.
Want to sell it for more painted.
Cheap paint job on $10k car and sell for $20k.
Flipper, pure and simple.
Painted it green and don't like the color.
Wife hates car.
Selling to recover costs.
Not enough money to finish correctly.
Seller is a painter by trade and can add value to car doing paint job.
Seller is not a painter by trade, thinks he can add value by doing paint job.
Had a baby, need to sell.
Getting divorced, need to sell.
Health issues, need to sell.
Just wanted to see the car 'done'.


Could be any of a dozen more reasons.

dont blame the sales person or flipper doing it!  ITS WHAT THE PUBLIC DEMANDS!  Its a very superficial world what we see on the outside is what pleases our eyes and we will buy it and not think of the whats under neath kind of deal.


Same thing with a woman...we lust and go after the hottest girl we can get it without knowing her personalitiy car=woman

I find it interesting that people who can't or would like to have a charger have nothing to say....very negative...maybe it needed a paint job and from the interior pics the car looks good.....smoke less saw more is what I say to people who like to bitch....

How many 45 year old cars have original paint.......5% and half of them need one? "To say to hide bad metal work" When ever metal gets redone it gets paint....unless you like primer better. Better to see one all done then a half assed project that someone lost interest on and now they want to unload it and it's all disassembled

I have seen the car before paint, even heard it run. And it is a very solid car, and sounded pretty stout too.

Since it was brought up as a maybe, DID the car need paint?  And is the car good, or is it just the interior pics?
Not picking a side, just wanting to get some accuracy out on the car for its own sake.

I don't think i said anything negative about the car!I simple asked a question and never intended to say anything bad!
A picture taken of a dark green car in a darkish garage isn't very promising IMO!Especially because there are a lot of people out there trying to get 30k for a 7k car with a fresh paintjob!

Nobody bitched about the car,did they?
Just interesting that people never bother to do a proper paint job just a quick one!Not saying this is the case since i haven't seen the engine bay.

The last time i bought a charger they said it had a fresh paintjob and it was but 3 different tones with sand in the paint!So forgive me if I'm a bit curious!

Well I certainly appreciate sarcasm as much or more than anybody so thank you for that but my post was regarding the statements overall, not that one little piece.  My goal was to hopefully get petercharger to post something a little more detailed on the car in the hopes of HELPING him.

I have noticed all of peters adds are very vague and most say pictures coming soon, and they never do. From what I recall, the car was very solid, but there was primer and old paint on the car.

 Is it just me or does anyone else find it confusing that the ad says it is column shift, but the picture shows a floor/console shift?

EDIT: Ok, I looked closer and think I see a column shift also. So if you don't pay the extra $500 he removes the console and shifter?

Sometimes people are vague when they list a car for sale because they really don't have to sell it.  If someone is really interested they could go look at it. Doesn't hurt to ask a little more than what it's worth. How many times has anyone sold a car and nobody asked if they would take less.....not often unless it's a steal. I knew someone that wanted 18K for a car and the guys eyes popped out and then held his composer and says would you take 15.......hundred  Good thing the guy didn't have a long nose!
