Those cutaway 426 Hemi's on the stands, were they all badged as Dodge?  Does anyone know how many they made or how they were distributed?  Was it something any dealer could purchase for the showroom floor or what?

My guesses:

No.
No.
No.

It appears they were made for the Auto Show circuit.

Perhaps someone that owns one could chime in with a known history...
I've never owned anything but a MoPar. Can you say that?

Ghoste

Ah yes, auto show circuit would be a very good guess since that seems to be the only place I recall seeing back in the day photos of them.  :scratchchin:

High Impact

Im lucky enought to have one......Granted,  not the HEMI one.  Mine is a lowly 383 2bbl Truck version.....but still very cool to everyone that come;s in the shop!!

From what I was told when researching these,  they made 7-8 of EACH engine! 225 thru Hemi.  Not sure on the smaller slantly motor??

They were used for the Auto Shows all over the country and then donated to schools for learning purpose's.  Thats where mine came from.

The story with mine is that it was used for the 1968 Chicago Auto Show.   It would be neat to see some pictures of it there but I have never found any..

Thats all I basically know about them.  Mine still spin's in a circle but someone removed the starter which in turn spun the engine as "IT" spun in a circle on the stand.

Couple more pic's.

That is a great piece!  Notice it's badged Dodge and all the Hemi ones I've seen were Dodge.   :scratchchin:

Absolutely applicable.  Someone has also now told me they made a 440-6 one of these as well.  Any truth to that?
