One thing is  missing from the picture you posted. Mainly a Daytona. Although both of the Chargers in the picture look great.

Is that a 67 and a 87 Charger in that picture? I don't see a Daytona at all.

Todd Wilson

I thought that was the 2.2 Daytona from the 80's!      :icon_smile_big:

Well look at it this way you got replies to your thread.

I believe it is a 1987 Shelby Charger. I don't think they did the Shelby Daytona in that body style. I think that it was in 1989 or 1990. Then came the IROC Daytona's and IROC R/T Daytona's.

It is a good looking photo though. I'm guessing it was done for a 30th anniversary for the Charger or something along those lines. Is that a 66 or a 67 in the background? To me it looks like a 67 but I'm a second gen fan so I don't pay as much attention to the details on those.

That particular car is either an '83 or '84 Shelby Charger (note the 4 lug wheels and no turbo-bulge hood).  "Shelby" Daytonas were made from '87-'91.  87 and 88's were Daytona Shelby Z's, and 89-91's were Daytona Shelby's.

Perhaps it's a trick; note the apostrophe after Daytona making it possesive instead of plural. I did enjoy seeing a nice 83 or 84 SC. I really miss mine and wish I hadn't sold it. Without being able to see the taillights I can't tell and 83 from an 84.

Yea same here...even a pic of the interior would help determine if it was 83 or 84.

It's kind of hard to tell from that far away but I think the 1st gen in the original pic is a 66.  67 would have turn signal indicators incorporated into the chrome trim at the leading edge of the fenders.  It doesn't look like that car has it.

That's what I was thinking too Natch!  I was also kind of glad to see a little discussion about those cars.  They may not be held in the same light as the 68-70 models but it's nice to see something about them.

The turbo 4 cars from the 80's have a place also because if it wasn't for them what else was there to chose from then?

I SHOWED THIS CAR TO MY GRANDMA AND SHE WANTS TO BUY ONE , GO FIGURE SHES 95 !

I'd love to have one of those. The little things can be pretty damned quick once set up to do so.
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.

"The turbo 4 cars from the 80's have a place"

I agree, but the Shelby in the photo is not a turbo car. At least it wasn't built as one. You haven't lived until you've replaced a clutch in a five speed L-body. The starters are a joy too, especially on the turbo cars.

Ghoste

Ain't that the truth!  I remember doing it for a girlfriend in the mid 80's thinking it'd be an afternoon job.  It was a couple of afternoons.

Drache

I had an '84 2.2 Litre Turbo Daytona! I miss driving the car but never could get it running right after something went wrong with it without doing a total rebuild on the motor. So since I only paid $400 for it, it got put out to pasture and will become a parts car once I find another one worth it.

Man, that's for sure. :icon_smile_angry: When I had to replace a starter in one, I was actually cussing out whoever the designer was that was responsible for putting the starter where they did.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I know that I really enjoyed the 87 Shelby GLHS #208 that I owned. I loved the FWD cars Dodge had back then, also loved all 3 of the Spirit R/T's and 3 IROC R/T Daytona's I've had as well.
