Does anybody wish they had the passenger side mirror?  Since my car's not finished yet I don't know how useful it is - I've been told it's in a lousy location and basically good for nothing anyway, but I don't know this firsthand.

My 68 R/T has every other option save for the rear shoulder belts and the towing package, and since I don't plan on sitting in the back or towing anything, I'm pretty sure I won't miss those.   :icon_smile_big:

Not true. Very useful if adjusted properly and well worth installing. I'm very pleased with mine.

Have to admit that having a right side mirror was a handy option to have, and was very functional if you adjusted it properly.  Would be better if it was a little larger, but much better than no mirror at all on that side.  Makes passing people easier.

Two options I always wanted were the v21 hood option, and Headrests on the front seats.  Always thought the low back buckets looked wrong without headrests, but mine didn't have them when i got it, so when i redid the interior, i stuck with the non headrest seats i had (makes it more unique looking now)  The v21 option wasn't available at the time mine was ordered or it would likely have had it checked off from whoever ordered it.  Seems whoever ordered mine went apeshit checking off available options, its got all of the ones people are wishing for, only ones they didn't check were for the power windows, rear defroster, cruise control, sunroof and 8 track.  I understand not getting power windows, manual ones go down in about a turn and a half, also understand no sunroof as they tended to have bad reputations for leaks back then, and 8 tracks were never popular, but a defroster would have been nice, but not a necessity.

When i finally repainted it for the first time in its life, I did add the v21 treatment anyway, as it needed something black up front to balance the black stripe in the rear.

OK, well I guess I will have to miss the passenger side mirror then    :rotz:

I just don't want to deviate from what the car originally had.

Ghoste

Interesting replies.  I haven't noticed anyone wishing for factory hood pins yet.  :scratchchin:

Little things like hood pins and mirrors are easy things to add later.  :Twocents:

were "factory hood pins" even available without getting the bigger "power train" option?

I will add, drilling holes into a perfect hood is a scary thing to do.

Were the original passenger side mirrors convex like the modern passenger mirrors or were they flat like the drivers side?  I put a cheap flat mirrored one on my car and it is just about useless, field of view is so small might as well not be there.  Stuck one of those blindspot stick on things on it for now.  :shruggy:

My R/T S.E. has all of these & several other additional options also. Since it is loaded from the Factory it has everything I could ask for except the sunroof. Don't even know if I would want that in it anyway. Doesn't seem musclecarish to me anyway. Mine even has the tow package. Still has evidence of when the hitch was once on the car. Been looking for another hitch just to have.

In green is what the OP has.  6pkrtse is merely quoting him.

My 70 is also similar to what 6pkrtse has.  Pluses for me are Stripe Delete, no vinyl top, 440 Magnum (not 6pk) so
that A/C is there.  With SE I have the leather charcoal interior & extra woodgrain.  With trailer towing I have the
extra cooling etc that more performance oriented versions get.  It needs the AM/8trk that it was born with.  Adding
hoodpins & a stock tic-toc-tac seemed right back in the day when I added them.  Might miss a passenger mirror
these days - but you all are helping me resist that upgrade!

My 72 is another story - should have been a 71 R/T with a Hemi 4 speed in triple black!!!!!!!!!!

they were flat just like the drivers side...and yea...kinda useless....most people put them in the exact same spot as drivers side, but that's not how they are supposed to go...they should mount further back on the door so you can view it through passenger vent window

same goes for the first gen, the passenger is 3" further back.

Oh for sure, in fact many of these things are.  I was more curious about that one things (or two) that makes you sometimes think, "if I go back in time and order this car new, I would have added ______ ".

Cool, I just figured the one on my 69 (Owner add on) was an aftermarket put in the wrong place. Just never got around to asking the question here. I also noticed that the body of the mirror is thicker than the drivers side mirror.

and +1 on the completely useless so I wonder what I have setup wrong since quite a few feel it's helpful.

Yes, I was quoting. Sorry for the confusion. I also have the passenger mirror on my car & I find it useful. I use it when backing out of the garage for sure due to that fact that I have to park as close as I can to the shelving on my right side way to have enough room to get out since my Challenger is in the next bay to the left. Towards the rear or front?  I'm a bit confused.  I don't have the passenger side mirror so have no clue where it's supposed to be.

I do plan on changing the flat glass over for a convex type.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

ODZKing

Passenger on a first gen goes back 3 more inches than the driver side.  Not sure about second.   :scratchchin:

Lord Warlock

This shows the original position of the mounting holes on the right side door for the right side mirror.  I don't think it was much further backwards than the drivers side.  I can go measure both sides if people want though, I'll be out in the garage smoking a cigar later tonight anyway. (regularly smoke out in the garage, wife won't let me smoke in house and its too cold to stand outside)
Checked the position of both mirrors, and they are both mounted in the same location on both sides, right side is no further back than the left side is.
