Small hole in heater a/c vacuum hose connector ??

Hey everyone.. just finished my a/c heater box. The straight connectors at the end of the the red and white lines that connect to the 3" hoses that connect to the pods, one end has maybe a pin hole ?? is that correct ?? Blew through them and nothing...cleaned with a needle or (maybe made a new hole) and now there is a breeze,,, seems a little wrong ?? or not. Anyone seen this ??  Thanks for reading... Blair
