Covert floor to a ratchet shifter?

Now that my car is coming home, one thing I'd like to do is take it racing a few times this summer.  However, I don't like the regular (automatic) floor shifter.  Now, I do want to keep the same shifter for originality, but would like to know if there is a kit/bolt-on/add on that will allow the shifter to act like a B&M ratchet shifter?  I had one in a previous car and liked that when I shifted I could just slam it forward and not worry about going from 1st to 3rd.

I used one of those kits from Duncan Motorsports?, Shift-R-Gate or whatever its called.  It works okay too but before that I was in the process of trying to booger up an old Slap Stick to the even older shift lever.

Like any mechanical device,  its subject to wear, maladjustment or just plain breakage.
