Whats the deal with the prices of these cars??
Anyone else collect these Danbury Mint or Franklin Mint cars?? I have quite a few, cant believe the amount of money they are fetching these days. No longer in production just like the real cars

I did a search and that's not the only one at those prices, seems 500-800 is the going rate for a Charger 
The Christine Charger replica is the same as the Bullit one as far as price goes...
Maybe I should sell my collection and buy a HEMI for my Real car 
And just think...... there was a time when we could buy the Real cars for those prices

A close friend of mine has been slowly selling off his NASCAR diecast collection over the last few years. All mint in boxes. Cars have been selling for a fraction of what they are really "worth".
Don't collect diecasts as an "investment".

I got hooked on the Danbury Mint stuff the moment they released the '69 Charger about 14 years ago. They would send me offers for other alternate versions and I would buy them. I had 'em all. About 8 years ago all the low production "off" versions went up in value, so I cashed in. I think most of those sold for around $300. I sold a Christine Charger not too long ago for $400 as I hear the Danbury Mint stopped selling die cast cars completely. I still have a Bullitt Charger and if someone offered me the right money, it would be gone. They are neat and really got better over the years (they tweaked many things). But are they worth that kind of money? Not to me.

I have been collecting these for some time for MY enjoyment and Not for personal gain. I have a display case in the rec room with my Mopar diecast collection , while I have all original boxes and paperwork I have no intention of selling any ever lol.
I've been following ebay for the last couple years trying to get a couple cars to complete my collection but they just never sell for a reasonable price IMHO.
I watched that Bullit Charger SELL last year for 1200 U.S.!!!!!
The only 2 cars I'd still like too get are the 67 Charger and 67 GTX

I have 15 danbury mint and 8 franklin mint car ALL Mopar muscle cars except one . Being a true gear head I just couldn't resist the franklin mint 427 Cobra roadster with REAL aluminum body.
Like others have said the detail has too be seen to be appreciated.
Something to stare at and dream of warmer days here in these cold Canadian winters. Have a nice collection of Mopar stuff surrounding me in the winter months LOL

My personal favorites in my collection are the 69 Charger " pro street" and 57 Fury race cars, amazing level of detail for the original purchase price. Too bad they aren't making them anymore.

For anyone willing to pay $500+ for Franklin Mint diecasts... I have the Hemi 'Cuda ragtop, the Petty bird and the Petty GTX. Still in the boxes they were shipped in.

The Danbury Mint sure did make a 1/24 scale diecast of a 67 Charger. I never said anything about 1/18th scale
The 67 charger is Silver with red interior and average prices are 300-400 which is wayyyy too much for me. I have managed to get a couple when the serious collectors were asleep at the wheel for 50 or less on ebay.

The franklin mint cars aren't worth nearly as much because they lack the incredible detail of the Danbury offerings.

I have the 69 500, 69 Daytona, 68,69,70 R/T's, the General lee, and Christine Charger All from Danbury Mint but don't have the 67 offering. They never made a Gen 3 Charger that I'm aware of.
The ONLY reason I started collecting these at all was the detail FAR SURPASSED anything available even in 1/18 scale. Some have working hood hinges, all have plug wires, fuel lines etc etc
But I will not pay more than original issue prices for these cars period. I'd rather spend my money on the real deal

I too have several display cases. I bought them expecting to sit on them forever. I always figured they would never even be worth what I paid for them. So this was a total surprise. But I am no fool. If someone wants to pay more than the things are worth to me, they can have them. More money to put into upgrades and tweaking the real thing.

Besides, odds are someone is seeing what these things are fetching. Someone will eventually fill that void. It is just a matter of time.

The headlight doors actually flip open like the real cars!! And on the Daytona the headlights pop up just like the real deal. Highly detailed replicas.

I agree about the billboards, I think they had some left over 69 parts and decided to change things up a bit in hopes of adding sales. The rims are first gen viper gts. The billboards are prolly left overs from the 71 cuda convertible they did.

I have that pro-street Charger diecast as well.
One other thing to note is that it is HEAVY! Probably weighs more than your typical 1/18" scale diecast. 

I should probably thin out my non-Charger diecast related stuff. Some are pretty rare, well over 15-years old. At this point I'd probably take a beating on them, though.

It's War Wagon's 1/24 Pro-Street Charger.  I didn't realize it was a D-Mint car; I thought it was something from Ertl or Maisto or something...

One thing that does gripe my ass on this car would be why go to the time to detail and yet leave that cheap toy looking door hinge!! They should have put realistic looking door hinges on it.
