I highly doubt that car was used on "The Ghost of General Lee."  That was a second season episode when they did not fill the side markers in.....this car has them filled in.  It is possible that the car was used throughout the series and then had the markers filled in and got the lighter tan interior..... :scratchchin:  It looks like those autographs are about gone too.... :rotz:
1969 Charger 383/auto
1969 Charger R/T 440/auto (waiting to be restored)
1972 Chevelle SS clone 383 sbc
1959 Chevy Apache short bed stepside
1968 Charger (glorified parts car)
Yes, I know I have too many cars. My wife reminds me daily.

Ghoste

I suppose it could have been screen used but based on what I've read by the DOH congnoscenti I am thinking no.  At least until one of them pipe in and say otherwise.

JB400

It wouldn't surprise me if this is one of those cars Ben had made up to put outside his stores.

Ghoste

Well and thats what I think too but not knowing GL's very well, I'll give him a tiny bit of slack for the moment.

There was so much torque the chassis twisted off the line.....

Looks a LOT better than the cars I've seen outside (and in) the stores  :Twocents: In fact, this car looks really good in the pics, and would probably be a great deal of fun to drive!  :2thumbs:

Ghoste

Really?  It surprises me that Ben wouldn't have good examples at his stores.  After John Schneider I always thought he embraced his time on the show a great deal.

Yeah, they are not that great, really, and sadly. Every now and then, a loaner Charger goes on display at the Nashville store. The one most frequent, is the Hazzard life one, and some of their other vehicles.

What a lot of folks don't know is the Ghost version of the General was not orange it was white. With frosted over windows and a chestnut interior. and He had indicator lights shown and that season of cars had small push bars not the wide ones.

Images of the episode Ghost of General Lee.

All the orange glow is film effect added in during filming editing.

Dino

WTH happened to those lower quarters???

See, this is why I just cannot respect a GL anymore, they always look like crap!  As if they were raped over and over by carnosaurus.  Spray bombed interior, boat loads of bondo covered in shiny paint, crappy interior, black engine bay.  I wouldn't dare turn the key in one of those without a fire suit.

Once more I need to voice my respect to those here that have made their GL into a mint car top to bottom.  You know who you are!   :2thumbs:

I really hate to ask, but what's the difference between the quarters on those two 68s?

The quarters on the top 68 is much thicker then it must be. So there is more bondo used on that quarter. Look close and you will see it..

no worries ,  ask anything  ,     don't like picking holes in another guys car , even ones forsale ,
 but for 30k nearly   :brickwall:

A = body line too high & wrong shape
B = wheel well moulding not fitting , lower rear quarter been made wrong shape out filler or a road sign
C = lower quarter too flat wrong shape made out of filler or  road sign
D = lower rear quarter end cap full of bondo , wrong shape & too much bondo , think they got fed up of rubbing it down
E = same as above D
F = same as D
G = same as D

infact that whole rear is prolly bondo

that's  just one side , its the same other  ,  wont even mention the paint job  ,

69wannabe

I have seen a general lee clone with the engine sitting unlevel in it a couple years back. It was a 68 tho and had a 413 motor home engine in it with them odd heads and exhaust manifolds and the engine wouldn't sit all the way down on the K frame because of the exhaust manifold sitting on the steering box. Whoever he got it from done it this way it had like a 1 inch or so spacer welded to the K frame to get the manifold off of the steering box which resulted in a crooked engine!! It looked exactly like the one in the picture. He had asked me about putting the right engine in it or swapping the heads for proper looking heads for a big block but when I gave him a price he bailed!! He traded the car off and that was a couple of years ago. The car he had looked like it had new metal in rear of the car but I only saw it once. I do remember the engine had been threw in there it looked like.

well consider only roughly 90k of the 68s were built vs what a mustang had 400k plus built it shows the rarity of our cars thats all vs other muscle/pony cars of the era.

 yeah  your right  :cheers:   that's true !!   :yesnod:  , awesome looking 68 by the way  :coolgleamA: :2thumbs:  1974DC

 still IMO  68 -69 -70 chargers that are rotted out piles of shrapnel or ones that are blatantly obvious to of had a quickie hlpeg job to flip  , are way way over priced  ,   nothing wrong with these rotted out cars  , especially with all the AMD stuff now , if you luckily enough to have the skills or can afford someone to  do it  ,  away you go ,  :yesnod:
but to me spending  10k -20k  & in somecases 30k  :pigsfly:  then proceed to cut away most of the body & send it to the scrap yard   , go through & rebuild & replace all mechanical , wiring etc  , seems insane ,
,  can see rare cars like   XX29 chargers & J  & R codes ,  possibly  Rare optioned  R/T 440s etc  bringing that kind of dough !
although I don't even agree with the prices of these cars needing restos :scratchchin:
think i'm living in the past with the prices,
its the collectors &  guys with too much disposable income &  auctions that are driving up these prices &  it trickles down through the food chain , & all of a sudden that rotted out 318 charger is forsale  for 30K cause the owner saw a  68 unrestored hemi charger sell for 100k at barret Jackson etc ,  if every one stopped buying these over priced  rotted out wrecks   , sure the prices would drop  although, maybe not , cause there is soo much free or cheap advertising on the internet these days , & there is always someone out there with more money that brains .
wonder how many of these collectors would have these cars if there value  was  half or a 3rd of the current market value today :scratchchin:
 no offence meant  in this post to flippers , collectors , dealers  etc  good luck each to their own  , just how I see it  :Twocents:
 i'm done   :yesnod: going to wait for my bus  :shortbus:
