I looked at this car over the past few years, but don't have pics of the car.  Plus it has a car cover on it now (I gave it to him last year).

1968 Dodge Charger R/T
Numbers matching 440 auto on the floor and a 8 3/4.
Dark green paint with green top and green interior.  Stripe delete
Rust issues: lower parts of the car has bubbling on most panels.  Torsion bar mount will need to be replaced on one side.  Trunk floor needs to be replaced and last 1.5-2 feet of frame rail is rusted and needs replaced.

Otherwise a "complete" car.  Motor was said to be rebuilt and has only a few hundred miles on it.  That's all the major things I can think of about it.  Clear title. guy has owned it since 1971.

So WIW?

Pictures, pictures, pictures.

Nice move with the cover though...

Hoping to get pics when the snow melts some.  But I probably will head off early to work today or tomorrow and take some pics.

I have a 69 rt green on green that my dad ordered new. I got the car in 71 and sold it in 85 and bought it back in 09. It sat outside for 10 of the 27 years he had it. Mice did the most damage. This summer I stripped it and took it to a pro restro shop to have metal work and paint. It's waiting for paint now. Metal work consisted of left front inner fender, trunk floor, deck lid, rear panel, nos hood, lower guarters, and normal rear window repair. I sold the car for 2k, bought it back for 8k, have to date 20k in repair not counting paint and what it will take to finish the car once I get it back. I'm going this route because it was my car and I feel lucky to have it back. I'm also 61 and want my car on the road before I'm dead. It would be much cheaper to find one already done. I hope this helps you a little with your decision. Good luck.

oh crikey , hospital  sorry to hear that !!  not good over the  Christmas period too ,
 thanks for the pictures
lot of work ,  IMO if you can get the car really really cheap & you can do the work your self  go for it , & its the color / option combination you want ,
don't be fooled , thinking i'll just repair / replace the frame rails etc  etc , by the time you take this off , cut that out ,  its going to be a nut & bolt , bare shell rebuild
i'm still amazed how much rotted out chargers on ebay are selling for ,

....SO WIW
as you said, even the rusted ones go for a lot of money.  My super bee was rusty when I bought it and most would say it was ready for the junkyard, but my dad and I saved it.  I know rust is my biggest enemy when dealing with cars for sure.  If it's too far gone for me, I'll send it down the road and put the money into my super bee or another car.

Also my health condition is "cyclic vomiting syndrome". Something I can't control.  Last time I was inthe hospital for 2 weeks bc I can't hold down any food/drink.  Today I feel perfectly fine. It is what it is, many people have it much worse than I do. Nothing to sit around and mull over.

is there any documentation on the motor being rebuilt ?  does it run ?  does the car move ?
like I say to do the car my self , would want it really really cheap , & perhaps i'm out of touch with prices , would not want to give any more than  couple of grand maybe 3 ,  may be a a little bit more if there is  documentation on the motor & it runs & not been sitting  for years  :shruggy: its prolly under valuing the car & dare say the owner could get more parting it out , but I would walk away if it could not be had for that price ,

As soon as I get it (hopefully) i plan to go through fluids and all that stuff.  Assess rust better and decide on keeping it or selling it that point....

Tilar

Wow, like you said it has a lot of rust damage underneath and it's going to be inside too by looking at the rust on the seat belt bolts. But if it is a true R/T it's probably worth somewhere in the ballpark of 7 to 10k. There was an R/T that just sold on ebay for just over 14k but it was a running car that would move under it's own power...

God must love stupid people; He made so many.

Hoping to hear back from the guy soon. I told him exactly what I'll pay and made sure he had my number still. Debating driving over with cash and trailer...

Sublime/Sixpack

Looks like it may have been stored with a vinyl tarp on it, or it was located in a damp climate. Even the radiator cap is rusty, I don't see that around here, but our climate is fairly dry.
It'd be cool if you decide to tackle the job and restore it to it's former glory. Good luck with the purchase and restoration if you go for it.
