OK, This has me perplexed. A few months ago I experienced some really NASTY front end vibration especially when braking... Like shake the front end of the car off stuff. I trouble shot it to the right side, I ran the adjuster back in and vibration went away (figured it got hot expanded and drum was warped) Anyway, car is going to Pa. for long term storage so I thought I'd fix it. Well after $150 of new parts the problem is back, not as bad as before but constant and unacceptable, I can't figure it out anyone got an idea....help?
Here's some data:
- New Rt. Wheel Cylinder
- New Shoes Lt. and Rt side
- All springs/hardware in good shape
- New wheel bearings on Rt. Side
- Lt. drum turned
- New RT. drum

Only clue I can think of is the new drum didn't seat all the way on the hub, in fact it comes off the hub now just like rear drums. Seems the wheel studs prevent the drum from seating all the way but tire bolts up fine...anyone???

Thanks

Any grease, oil,or brake fluid on the drum or shoes will cause it to grab,Try to spray everything down with some brake clean.

I cleaned everything plus both side adjusters are run all the way down so the shoes are not touching the drum at all and it's still vibrating. I'm going to try and remove the new front drum and try car out in back of the house to see if I can isolate it to front, I'll just use the emergancy brake  :o

Well without the drum it seems better but i didn't get past 40 MPH. I'll dig through te trash and see if I can find the old one to put on  :flame:

either drum is not centered or is warped again

Just curious... what brand did you use when you replaced your drums?  I have gotten rotors and drums from a cheap brand and had them warped right out of the box.  Might want to have your new drums checked on a resurfacer.  Needless to say, I will only buy a brand name now like Wagner, Bendix, etc.

Well found the problem, wasn't brakes was the drive shaft! one of the c-clamps loosened and the u-joint cap slide out a bit (till the c-clip hit the yoke) that gave enough play for vibration, that's why it was constant. How queer that I should get a new vibration right after i changed the drum? it wasn't doing it till after i did the brakes.

Not sure of brand of rotor, got it from NAPA

Thanks anyway!
