I have the opportunity to buy a 70 newyorker (440), and I am wondering what parts would  be worth stealing?  what center section do these cars run, sure grip? ratio? can the disc brakes be used? or anything else? unfortunitly the car is not local so im trying to gather as much info as i can before I go look at it.

Thanks in advance

I forgot to mention I would be using these parts for my '69 charger

I need a firewall, lower quarters, and a driver's side trunk floor. Lower body trim would be awesome if so equipped. How are the tail lamp lenses?

Ryan, the 440 and 727 will not fit in a 69 Charger! They will on the other hand fit quit nicely in my 1968 Road Runner!

You know, I would not have though I would ever say this about a 4 door, but that car is just to nice to part out.

How many miles on the car and what are you paying? If you are paying $1000.00 + I would find a rebuildable 440 and let this one live. Or at the very lease, use your old motor in the car and let it live.

If you would PM me about the car and what you want for it.  :scratchchin: I could see driving that C around.

Yeah it is a nice boat.  I had one identical in green.  To roll the windows down you had to touch a couple wires.  Just don't hold the connection together with your fingers, damhik.

We used to call it "lid flip".  I flipped the air cleaner (don't we all do that?) & when I threw the ol' column shift down & nailed it, it sounded like all hell was breaking loose.  It sure sounded like we were hauling ass while we sat on your couch is the way it rode.

You know it runs and how well, plus a 70 440 is nothing to sneeze at either. :2thumbs:

The front clip might be wanted by someone, but otherwise it is scrap IMO and most others except for a few here. :D

If it was a 2 door I would be singing a different tune, but 4 doors are parts cars & always will be.

The purchase price is $2,000. Is a good running 440 with 68K on it worth the money?

man, its nice. i like it. now if it will be parted out, the drive train is worth a good bit. i would assume the brakes are useable.(dont have my cross book here) several good parts to sell. i think its a good price. just beat em down as far as you can. but go check the prices for a complete engine and trans in good running order for a 1970 440. that will be up there.

:scratchchin: To be honest Ryan, I am not sure with me being out of the hobby for 8 years. 8 years ago I would have said no! OK, did some more thinking, I still say no. Here are my reasons.

While 68,000 miles is low, back in the day that means that engine is 68% though it services life. At 80,000 miles there will be real signs of ware and at 90,000 to 105,000 they would be bone yard bait. It would still be a good C body engine 68,000 miles but as a HP 440 in a Charger it would not last that long. I am guessing you are thinking "Will not drive it hard". But, if you are not going to beat on it some, why get a 440 in the first places?  :scratchchin:

727's all so normally went before the engine. I replaced mine at 70,000 in my 68 Road Runner. I all so rebuilt my 383 at 89,000 and it was time. By the way, the Road Runner has been in my family from day one and I still have her.

Then there is the effort of taking the parts out and off to sale. While pulling the engine is not a big hairy deal, there is still time and effort. If you then part the car out, more time and effort. Shipping parts can all so be a pain!

If all you want is the power train, I keep looking for something to build. That way you know what you have. 25 years ago I all so bought a 68,000 mile C body for the drive train, paid $250.00. 727 was bad, reason I got the car cheap.Car was pretty, insides like new and no rust at that point. Opened the engine and it had not been well cared and could stand refreshing. In hind sight I should have rebuilt the 727 and had fun with it. I could have bought a core 440 for the same prices for my HP project.

I almost agree.  I've been looking for something just like this for a while, but my plan was to take the perfectly good 383/727 out of my '68 and swap the 440, then put the 383 back in the donor car and have a nice cruiser and a 440 Charger.   I doubt it would hurt the value of the C-Boat too much.

On that note, if you decide to pass... please let me know where this car is and how much they want for it.

I would still buy it and take what you need then try and sell it as a roller & if no takers cube it. For those that say it is to nice to crush they can step up and buy it...bet you hear crickets. That car is worth more in parts than a whole, just like it was back in the day. It MIGHT have a 3.23 sure grip so I would check your fender tag to see what is back there.

Bottom line you need to do what works best for your situation and not worry about popular opinion.

Four door "C" bodies don't sell.

The value is in the drivetrain, and some body/interior if the parts will interchange with one of the "C" body convertibles.

Otherwise, it's pull the engine/trans and a few other knick knacks and it's off to the demolition derby. :eek2:

Most likely this is the fate of my Imperial that I've been trying to sell, unsuccessfully for three + years.
