A complete and rare car can sometimes be more trouble than it's worth. I've gone through this and was forever handcuffed when deciding what and how to fix something. I finally got over that hurdle by changing my thinking.

What am I doing it for?  Or for whom am I doing it?  It's my car and I have it because of my passion. It is for me to play with.

An investor may look at this differently but I am not one of those and I think most of us know this hobby doesn't have a pay off other than the enjoyment of the cars.

Since this car has many flaws already let them be your out and make it what you want.

For those that cringe at the thought I would say that this car's originality passing will only add to the value of those that are left

C'mon.   You're no newbee to this site......predictable responses for and against should have come as no surprise.

I'm glad mine was preserved as original till my grubby mits got ahold of it.    I enjoy that aspect of my car.

Am I going to get scrutinized?

You already know the answer.    But if it is your car, and you are happy with it, I don't know that it really matters what someone else thinks.    Whether or not it is a good decision on your part is a whole 'nother can of worms that can be argued for and against.
In the case of Troy, I don't think he's going to separate any equipment currently on the Daytona.    He's not doing anything that can't be reversed.      In the case of his car, it's been down this road before with prior owners.   There is no harm.
Take it from someone who's jumping into a big "Mod" myself with the Daytona and getting "feedback",,,,, GO FOR IT !!!!!  I have already spent a good chunk of change on getting the parts I need for the conversion........... Being that I won't be reincarnated on this planet, I have one shot to create something I want..... I'm going for it....

I guess my question was probably a loaded question. And honestly, I guess no matter what you do to YOUR car, people are going to scrutinize it. I think maybe instead of a bumble bee stripe, I'll paint a unicorn.
I'm smarter than I act, But I don't act smarter than I am.

Depends how rare it is. There are guys that tear up Daytonas and Superbirds so a few small mods to your Coronet shouldn't get you kicked out of the Mopar world.

Build it the way YOU WANT TO!!! YOU BOUGHT IT!!!! Screw the rest that think you "ruined" it! Haters gonna hate... it's not like it's a 71 Hemicuda Convert.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

and he is a convert  :smilielol:  ex mr OEM  :icon_smile_big:

Well, I'm so anal though that a lot of stuff I'm doing still has to be as correct as possible.......... Spoke with Brian Brady at length today and I'm swaying towards the complete correct hemi k-member/brackets instead of the adaptors.....
