Got my 74 charger going today, but noticed the instrument lights are not very bright.
Even with switch turned right up. Anyone know of some brighter newer bulbs or suggestions to make it easier to see
the gauges at night?

My dimmer is bypassed to give the brightest it can get.  :scratchchin:

jump the rheostat so they are always on full,
if not bright enough on full,
new replacement bulbs

You probably need a new switch. The rheostats inside get arc'd up, or the conductor breaks.

They are available new for about 30 bucks.

Given the price of a new replacement, messing with an old one doesn't make much sense. They are a bit of a PITA to replace, but it does not require IP removal.

LEDs make a very nice upgrade, but you really need to remove the blue diffusers for best results. That does require removal of the IP.

I purchased my LEDs from them. Metal bases were so soft that they deformed during installation. Had to replace about half of them, which Superbrite did at no charge.

Regardless of whether or not you retrofit LEDs, install a fresh switch.
