I wonder how they got the Charger legal.  California is a bitch about titles and smog tests.

Actually, every vehicle built before 1976 is exempt from smog testing.
Regarding titles, you'd be amazed at how easy it is to resurrect a title for a car here.

There you go. No title for the 68. I told you so.

Well at least you get another look at the "General Mayhem" their name for the 68 Charger on the show. Handled horribly they said. Lots of wheel hobble at the end of the run when the braked. But I love that they added donuts and drifting after the race.

Love the look of this 68

Put in some glass and I would be glad to drive it  :2thumbs:

They are suppose to be doing some upgrades to the Charger on a future episode. I know it is slapped together, but I have always wanted to build a car like that (not necessarily a charger, but some Mopar), just put it together with what I have piled up in my shop/and from junkyard parts... low buck, not worry about paint, shiny chrome, etc. Just haven't found 'the car' yet. I passed up a fairly complete 73 Duster for 400 bucks a few years back, that would have been a good project like that. Sorta wishing I can find a B body though, old rough satellite or coronet.

I love the roadkill shows. Doesn't matter what they work on, I really think they do a good job on those shows. It's entertaining, and you can pick up ideas.

I recently had watched all the Roadkill episodes including this one. We all wish we were having as much fun as these guys!

I was a Hot Rod subscriber starting at 10 years old. After Baskerville passed away the mag seemed to go sideways for me and I stopped my subscription until a few years ago. I like F-burger's enthusiasm and humor and think he's done a lot to bring Hot Rod back to where it should be. The Roadkill stuff is a prime example.

It's just part of the cycle.  Once a shiny expensive restored car has become way more common than a beater, we start wanting to see some beaters again.

People crap on Freiburger sometimes but I think he's been great for HOT ROD.  They actually feature interesting stuff and have a longer term view on things.

A '69 Coronet would fit the bill. I love that mean angry grill.
But even those can be pricey.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Then you too, would not be able to drive this thing legally on the road.  :Twocents:

With a D tag, you could drive anything on the road as long as it's not a nuisance.

That's exactly my reason for wanting one. I'd thrash this thing around the back paddock, won't have to pay rego or insurance and save my R/T for the road.
Best of both worlds.

bit more strict over here in the uk would have to have a full safety check and working lights, seatbelts, all brakes would have to work properly amongst other things...what is a D tag??? :shruggy:

Dealer tag,  first letter is always a D with the dealer's number next, followed by letters

Thats one of the few nice things about living in Arkansas, no emissions testing and no safety inspections. If it rolls down the road and has tags and working lights it's legal.   :2thumbs:

Let's hope the rest of the upgrades are done a little better than that dipstick....whadda dumbass. Even has a bracket with a bolt hole?

Especially like the comments while fourteen quarts of trans fluid spills. "How does that happen?" Really? Just never thought to attempt to plug up the rear tailshaft? Anybody who's ever removed a 727 knows first rule is your gonna make a big ole mess.

Funny, the popular thing now is roach builds. Who'd a thunk, I was cool before it was cool?? Been building cars like this for years, I even drove two of mine up the road sitting on a spare tire. Hell, they had seats.

Junkers were always cool, just take a look at all the Beat-to-hell civics and trucks highschool kids drive

Bump , Supposedly this charger will return in episode 32 of roadkill, going up against a subaru legacy, and sporting new suspension parts  :popcrn:

F8-4life

I enjoyed the episode.
But common why does it need to be a orange GL? Its a 68.
Because the guy only knows chargers from the dukes?

The General Mayhem will be a legend after tomorrow.
