A charger with no vent windows..... :eek2: :eek2: :eek2:
The body looked really solid.....I hope that car goes to a good home one day.  I think it would be fun to do something like that with a rusted out parts car that's too far gone.  :2thumbs:
1969 Charger 383/auto
1969 Charger R/T 440/auto (waiting to be restored)
1972 Chevelle SS clone 383 sbc
1959 Chevy Apache short bed stepside
1968 Charger (glorified parts car)
Yes, I know I have too many cars. My wife reminds me daily.

I do love Road Kill, but for some reason I did not enjoy this one as much as some of there other shows. Still enjoyed it.

My favorite was when the pulled the 68 Barracuda out of a junk yard, bottled it and ran I think 12's.

I get it, reason I did not like this one as much!  :scratchchin: No Blowers or bottles used!

Hum, they have a low compression 440 and they just pulled the 8-71 off the Crusher.  :scratchchin: Hope they get the same idea I just did.  :2thumbs:

All the critics need to bear in mind that the Charger started as a parted out shell that was received in trade for a set of cylinder heads. That thing was completely gutted, and one step from the crusher. So to throw a bunch of junk parts at that carcass over the coarse of six months and have a running, driving car is pretty darn cool.

And the mesh grille thing was really just a concession to budget that happened to add some character. Putting an OEM grille that thing would be a waste. Shoot, the car has no glass in it other than the windshield (which I expected to pop out since it had no locking strip in the gasket).

Funniest part of this episode had to be where the dipstick popped out and they fogged the freeway. I wish I could say that's never happened to me before.

The best part about the Roadkill shows is the complete lack of manufactured drama that you get in pretty much all other forms of reality TV.Those guys do a greeat job of finding humor in their frustration... although I am expecting Finn to chuck a wrench at Freiburger one of these days. I think he came pretty close a few times during the Roadkill Live at PRI.

yeah that's true  :yesnod: :2thumbs:

I can give you that James, but mesh is for dirt trackers and screen doors. :icon_smile_big:

Better than letting it sit in a field out back. I really enjoyed this episode.

Is there a link for part 2 ?

A Cuda Nut, if you mean to the Charger, at this point there is none. You can use face book and friend them for contacting them with ideas.

One of the things I like, is like some of us at times will do it half ass if necessary to get a car on the road. Lets faces it, most of us have had to do it at some point.

Yeah it's cool  :coolgleamA: , but it makes me feel like a sucker, having to pay for my charger when i could have just traded some old cylinder heads for it  :slap:

1974dodgecharger

that episode was way to fckin cool!!!!  The 2ND charger is considered the MOST BADASS vehicle ever PERIOD! I would sport that vehicle that they have no questions asked and it would still be considered way cooler than a modern challenger by far!!!!!  :icon_smile_big:

I currently have a pretty stock '68 RT, original motor, original colour & options etc, but when I scrounge up enough $$$ to buy a '69 as well, I'll get an XP and it's going to look like a rough-as-guts beater like that. Having something to thrash around and not having to worry about chipping the paint would be sweet.
I've seen worse things inflicted on a Charger.

Wish I could find a deal like that, heck I've got 2 sets of SBC heads I can't even give away.   It really did remind me of your charger, especially when they showed the custom dash/switches.  I went the high road on mine and straight used the truck engine instead of motorhome.  :nana:  Actually, I really liked that truck they had, glad they didn't tear it up.

Reminds me of my Charger I did a couple years ago.  Basic ole rusty Michigan car that I bought for a parts car.  Used a few parts off it but always kept it in running moving condition even if it sat out back for 10 years in the weeds.  One day I got a goofy idea to make it road legal again,  well the cop's wouldnt have found it road legal but I made it run drive and the lights all work again..........brakes were iffy at best (needed new master cyl)  I drove it to work and all over town for about 2 weeks with a boat gas tank mounted to a piece of wood in the trunk as it had no gas tank or floor for that matter!  I had some fun with it and sold it on craigslist and now someone here own's it in California.....Why?  It was sooooo bad rusty it was dangerous but......whatever...

Here's a couple pic's of it.

I was pretty amazed at the similarities, now im glad i went with 69 parts, i don't want people to think i copied the "roadkill" 68  i even wanted to use black steelies... now looks like i need a new plan  :rotz:

If that grille was on an Ebay Charger then we would be crapping on it.  We would also be saying it's a pretty bad sign for how the whole car has been treated.

Put the same thing on TV, and everyone loves it.

Nah, I disagree because this video came with an explanation as to why it was done this way. In fact the entire show comes with an explanation that these guys are low-budget wrench-turners who often enjoy the challenge of getting basket cases back on the road. If someone said they dragged their 68 out of the brush and humbly explained that they did just enough to get it running and driving, I doubt too many people would bash on them. Especially if their selling price was sane. If they came at it with attitude (which too many Ebay sellers do) they would surely get smeared beyond recognition.

ACUDANUT

I wonder how they got the Charger legal.  California is a bitch about titles and smog tests.

Thanks for posting the link. That was cool. I'm surprised he tried sealing the dip stick tube with gorilla snot   .

Not legal. Just enough safety equipment to maintain an illusion of regulatory conformance.

On another thread a few months ago somebody was complaining that they were ready to give up on their low-budget driver '69 project because of the cost of grilles.  I threw out the idea of cobbling together a '69 grille using one of those cheapo blocked-off fiberglass '69 grilles and replacing the grille area with some other material.

It didn't get a very positive response, and it would have looked a lot closer to stock than what Frieburger just built.  I just failed to present the idea in the form of a TV show.

I don't always Bitch and complain, but when i do it's because i built a car in my garage out of old junk, it gets called a hackjob, but if someone builds one on tv, it's a masterpiece, why is that  :smilielol:

That's what I'm getting at.  It's only cool when the right person does it.

Sorta like that black 1970-ish Charger custom that Steve Strope did several years ago.  I remember saying if some anonymous builder had done the same creative work without the 426 Hemi and big name, the Mopar press would have crapped on it.

Cripes, I made a grille out of scrap refrigerator parts.

IDEA!  Since I don't have a Charger emblem on the grille, should throw a refrigerator emblem on there.  :D
