Is this what I use as a windshield gasket for 3rd gen?

actually, our cars uses this:



then this to fill the rest of lip around the ribbon which actually is the sealer:



this doesn't get hardened

latelly the ribbon has been replaced with modern urethane glue, like newer cars

Do you think the urethane route is a better way to go than the ribbon?

mmmm... last time I installed my windshield, shop advice me to use Urethane because seals better any gap and is less corrosive than the ribbon. They used Urethane.

Dunno what to say if better or not. Honestly I like the ribbon better. IMHO gives a cleaner finish inside once installed.

After that I used the 3M sealant to fill the channel anyway. Having Vinyl top, is a must.

I put mine in with the ribbon sealer in '88 and it's still leak free.
