I need a stock style oil pickup tube for my 1969 440. I have bought 3 now from 3 different places, all have been wrong.

I don't have a correct one around, but I seem to remember that the tube extends out of its threaded hole, then has a bend creating a flat spot for, then another bend to the sump. I keep getting these straight ones, looks like for front sump.

Anyone have a picture of the correct tube and maybe a good place to buy one that will send me what I paid for?

Hey JimShine,I just went thru this dilema this past winter putting my 440 together. My case was a 1970 440 motor with the 402 oil pan.I have an orig pan with the orig pickup tube and when trying to put the pan on ,it was hitting the pan long before it got to the block,a good 1/2".Went and found another orig pickup tube, and that one did the same thing.Apparently this 70 block  has a problem with the depth of the threads when trying to use the 69 pickup tube for the 402 oil pan.The depth of a 402 pan is around 4 1/4" from rail to bottom.I bought a brand new repo "dogleg"pickup tube for pans that have a middle sump and oil baffles from Summit part # DCC-5007848 MP,but unfortunately it is for the MP 6 quart pan part # DCC- 5007807AB as it is an inch longer than the orig pickup for the 402 pan. This new pan is about 5 1/4" deep, way thicker than the orig 402 pan,so that is what I went with. They do not repo the correct one for the 402 pan,so you have to find an original.I have a 69 E 440 HP block for my other car that the 402 pan and pickup fits perfectly,so it was an issue being in the 70 motor thred location as to why mine would not fit. Here are some pics of the pan ,and pickup.

Thanks. That is exactly what I thought it looked like. Looks like I need to start digging for an original.

Or, would the inch longer version pickup work if I added a windage tray?

Still would'nt work with a windage tray, you would only be adding another gasket and the thickness of the tray, still not enough. You are going to have to find an orig pickup tube for the 402 pan to use it.If you get stuck, the setup I showed you was $157.00 for the pan,and $25.00 for the pickup. Not to mention you would have one more quart of oil in the motor.

Does anyone know if the 440 Source #101-1010 pickup works in a 1968  #402  440 pan?
