Can someone confirm my decoding of numbers on case, I think I'm right but don't understand all the markings,
On case A - 727 - B    176 - 1
There's some other numbers near the selector levers 3110176-1    05102
Dot markings first space three dots, three dots, three dots, 2 dots
Numbers on pan lip edge
Pk239  090L 2835 344

The set on the pan rail are the only ones with any real meaning.

PK= Plant Kokomo (Indiana)
2892090 is a 727 from a '69 B or C-body with a 383-2 engine.
2835= Build date May 2, 1969
344= Sequence number, the 344th built that day

There should also be a VIN stamped on the raised pad on the right side of the bellhousing.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks john,
i knew you would answer, how do you get 383 2 b, the reason i ask motor and trans i have came out of old c- body cop car, the engine block strangely cast 67 , and this was in a 70 c body,
no vin stamped anywhere i could find, had the case hydroblasted,

The part number stamped in the pan rail identifies the application the trans was built for. On either side of your part number, 2892089 would have been for a 340 and 2892091 would have been for a 383 in an A-body.

It's fairly common to find mismatched parts in a 40+ year old car.  If the VIN pad is unstamped, the trans could be a parts room replacement.

Story of my life this motor and trans, ex cop car running gear,
When I opened the trans to finally build it , was like I had built it yesterday, but already had the plan to seriously upgrade it, but nice to start with a trans in such shape
The engine looked like it also had Been built yesterday, the only thing I found wrong with it , it had four or five pushrods bent and spat so it wouldn't had run, already accumulated all the goodies to build stroker,
If I was looking for budget in good shape running gear I wouldn't find it.
