Anyone using a power steering filter on their cars?

I'm thinking of adding a filter in the return line to both my Charger and Jeep along with a fluid flush just prior. Both systems are running fine with just small seepage from the pitman arm seal on the Jeep so that got me thinking that's a fluid we tend not to think of until it's too late.
I've got the kit to do the jeep seal and ran across several filters doing a search for parts.  :scratchchin:

I can't remember seeing a PS filter on any of my vehicles or on any other :shruggy: :shruggy:

Interesting.  I've never heard of using power steering filters before either but it makes sense.

I guess the filter is for any metal fines generated in the steering box?   The fluid itself shouldn't throw off any gum, because of all the solvents in it.   A filter wouldn't hurt,  maybe the modern steering units have finer clearances that would benefit from a filter :shruggy:

Magnefine in line filters  :2thumbs:  I wouldn't have it any other way.

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

If the original subject vehicle is a Jeep that's a different matter.  I'm assuming the Jeep has one because it is designed for off-road duty; a power steering filter may be a necessity, wherein other vehicles like ours, not really so...

No this is something added even on Jeep. Many newer cars do have them and they have ones that just fit inside the return hose also.

My 60 Dodge Polara with a 383 has one where the return line goes into the pump.  Just slides into the pump nipple.    I see them on many 60-61 Mopar cars.  I don't know what year they stopped.    Maybe that is why my steering box made it 54 years (built in Nov 59) with out a leak.
