The car is a roach, The interior is covered in dust & the engine liiks like it came out of a lake. I wouldn't buy that POS with your money.

:scratchchin:  looks like he started with a pretty straight & original coronet  :yesnod:

looks like an amazing deal to me  :drool5:

That motor and trans is not cheap I'm sure. The shell is worth a grand to me. The drive train could be close to the rest of his asking price. If it runs. Could be a fair deal honestly but I would want to see it person.

parts alone would be worth the asking price   :Twocents:

You would really need to know how well that drive train was installed, but it looks like it could be a cool project to finish.

Is motor & trans in straight? Is it actually mounted?   :shruggy:

seems like a good deal at that price (parts, etc).

the real question is how much more $$ does it need? $30-40K? In other words, if you were looking to do a project like this...would the "good deal" be worth taking on what may be the proverbial "someone else's nightmare" or are you better off skipping the deal and starting the project from scratch from your own, the advantage being that at least you know what youre getting into.

He would make more money if he separated the engine and trans, and sold the car and engine separate.

I think Ponch made the most valid statement by asking how much more will be needed to finish.

If I was one of those that had been dreaming of putting a viper eng. in a 68 coronet I might be all over this car.

So many projects are started and fall victim to life's needs.  I see the chance of this project getting finished as being very low.

The value is in the parts and pieces. BTW what is the value of a viper engine and trans. that is not running?  :shruggy:

I would be afraid to run the VIN on the motor, not that you need to. :Twocents:

I don't know, there are some wrecked ones out there.  They offered it as a crate engine for a short time as well.  :shruggy:

Seems like salvage Viper parts are not hard to find, I read somewhere that 30% of all Vipers have had major crash damage.

The build pics don't generate a lot of confidence with the dirt, dust, and incompleteness of it all. Frankly, buying a viper eng/trans, fabbing some mounts, and dropping it in a car isn't a lot of work, and it doesn't appears much more has been done beyond that. I'm guessing that the seemingly good "parts" price is reflective of that.

saw an engine/tranny combo recently on CL for something like $2500 but both needed (major?) work. Not knowing much about the cost of rebuilding a Viper engine, couldnt tell you if its a good deal or not.

EDIT: looks like he's gone down on the asking price.

I figured the hard part was the fab work involved and getting the combo inside the car. After that its hooking things up making sure she fires....

Likely depends on where your area of expertise already is.
