Great stuff :2thumbs:   And to think that each wrench could have been used for years day after day.

A good lesson that I deal with looking at the stuff I have laying around.  Humm?

I was just thinking the same.........what was wrong with any of those wrenches that they ended up becoming art work.  Were they all made in China?  :icon_smile_big:

Nice.

When I was in high school & during breaks at college I was working at a packing & shipping company that specialized in artwork. We'd do local pick ups & deliveries to the galleries in NYC but a lot would need to be crated & shipped worldwide. One artist we picked up from regularly made sculptures from odd objects including wrenches like the ones pictured above.

His name was Arman. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arman

One day we were sent to his studio to get a "heavy sculpture" he had. I knew we were in for a tough day when 5 of us went instead of the usual 2.

The sculpture was made from wrenches all welded together that ended up being about 5' x 8' & weighed hundreds of pounds.  :o  I asked him where he found all the wrenches & he said he went to Canal St. in China Town where some vendor was selling them out of 55 gallon drums. He bought all of them.  :smilielol:

By the way, I actually found a photo of it, or at least a very similar one......
