"The Fast and the Furious" movie star Paul Walker, 40, has died in a car accident Saturday afternoon in southern California, reports TMZ.

The accident occurred in Santa Clarita — outside of Los Angeles — when Walker's Porsche apparently lost control and crashed into a tree, TMZ reported. The car burst into flames and exploded.

Wow, that sucks. Not sure what happened but it does tend to serve as an unfortunate reminder about getting too fast and furious behind the wheel. Walker was not driving though, according the article I read.

Looking at that pic it's apparent the driver ignored his (in)ability to manage his speed, and the posted speed limit was probably ignored too. Dang, not much left there to sift through.

I believe Paul was the passenger... Sucks.... hate to hear about anyone going out that way....
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

the passenger died as well....

RIP Paul

I thought Paul was the passenger?  :shruggy:  (according to the other 2 threads on the same topic)

I'm sorry to be the one to say it but they seem to think they're invincible...... just like in the movies.  Only real life is very different.

Sorry to hear about it just the same. Forty is way to young.

I read Paul was the passenger also.

My guess is the driver was trying to impress Paul and the car got away from him. Walker had training at some of the driving schools if I remember right and I doubt he would play "Racer Rick" on the streets.

Ironic, isn't it!?

He was best know for his movies involving high speed, crazy stunt driving, in tricked out vehicles that seem to deify the laws of physics. Here in Canada they even attributed the stunt driving laws that were implement years back to the punk kids who would watch F&F and then attempt to do the same in their $hitbox Civic.... or worse their moms 1995 Grand Am!

Unfortunately the reality of the role he depicted ended the way it does most times in real life and not the way it ends in Hollywood.

RIP Paul Walker...

RIP...

but on a side note...I was shocked to find out, via social media, how many of my friends harbored such a raging man-crush on the guy.

So very sad!  :'( He was a charitable man and father. Real good looking guy too!  Such a tragedy! RIP Paul.

This one gets to me for some reason.  Hate to see someone get into a situation like that when someone else is at the wheel.  Seemed like a heck of a nice guy and good father.

RIP

Just to clarify some things; Rodger Rodas was the driver, Paul was the passenger. Rodger was a professional driver and although it is still under investigation, there was a fluid spill and trail before the skid marks that is suspected to be steering fluid malfunction. The skid marks are straight with no signs of swerving. The GT was having issues backing into the shop and Rodger went to test drive it around the block. Paul decided to go with him, having never been in that particular car. I'm not going to say they weren't speeding, but the chances of Rodger losing control without a malfunction are slim.
This happened in my town.
Rodger and Paul's shop, AE Performance, has always been a supporter of my car club and the car culture in Southern CA.  AE would sponsor scavenger hunt giveaways every Friday, with prize bags hidden around the valley. A lot of car guys and kids got really into it. The shop was always welcoming of whoever wanted to stop by check out the cars/projects. They did a lot of charity work, including just this past weekend hosting a toy drive for the Motor4Toys Charity Car show. The loss of Rodger and Paul has had a huge impact on the car community here and they will not soon be forgotten. My club is doing a memorial cruise to AE this Friday and there is another memorial at the site of the crash this Sunday.
