Ok I would like to replace my power steering box( Gear) in my 69 charger due to wear and leaks. Motor is out and will be done in one month. I went to rock auto and there is 4 different suppliers to choose from one is A-1 CARDONE, 2nd is LARES,3rd is ATSCO, 4th is send in yours and rebuild and send back by Lares. Does anyone know which one is better? Thanks

I have purchased other Cardone items (not a steering box) before with no problems.
I have a Firmfeel on my 67 and lets just say, I've grown to like it. But I've always thought boxes were boxes unless you get something like a Firmfeel or from Steer & Gear that I visited last summer at Carlisle.

I'd go with a "modernized" rebuild such as the Firmfeel unit mentioned above, or check out this thread:

:iagree: But they're expensive. If improved performance is not an issue to you one rebuilt box is probably as good as another unless you can find a good local guy to do it.

There is also Borgeson which is supposed to be close to rack & pinion steering but it is almost double Firm Feel's price
