Tried a paper clip yet?

Open up a paper clip and lay it in the hole. It usually will tighten up the hole enough for the screw to thread in tight.

Looking at that bracket maybe just drill new holes in it and use new screws in the new holes?  :scratchchin:

I agree Dirk.  I wouldn'tr fool with the holes.  Head to Lowes, find similar hex head bolts of larger size and put them in.

Can you get a speed nut to the hole on the inside and someone start the bolts through on the outside?

Which bracket are you using? Do you have a pic?

That's the one.

That's the same one I got. Those inner mounting bolts can't be seen once the VR is on so you can pretty much do what you want. I would just get a larger pair of those pointed, self-starting bolts like what Rolick gave you. Tap the sheetmetal out to 3/8" and snug 'em down.
