Hey guys...just got my new motor put in.(440). It really runs bad. Its poppin and crackin with no power. A friend of mine figured out the distributor was 180 out. We fixed that. Now the ballast resister keeps burning out. Its went through 3 now. We did install eletronic ignition. Does anybody know why this is happening ?? Would appreciate any help u could offer. Thanks.

I'm a little confused by your post. Are you saying the ballast resistors are burning up but the car runs or the resistors burn and the car does not run. If the car does not run and the resistors burn up my best guess is something is miss wired. Like one end of the resistor is connected to 12 volts and the other end is shorted to ground.  It also could be a shorted coil and/or the ECU box itself is blown shorting the coil to ground full time.

Which ignition system are you running.  Any other electrical mods done to the car?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

It sounds like you have something wired backward.
Here are the instructions on my site.  I would print them and trace everything back.  Be sure you are breaking the voltage at the right spot.  Sounds like the ballast is getting 2x after you let go of the key.
