how do ya' justify to all the folks that say "you don't need another one!",.. Folks meaning spouses, relitives etc..
See i got my eye on another mopar, and i dont really need it i just want it... I dont have the space, or the time,.. but...
anyone else buy these cars on sheer impulse?..

Well you have to ask yourself
would it really bring you enjoyment every day you have it sitting in your yard?
Would you lose money on it in long run?
can you make money on it?
Is there any other needs for your family than buying another project?

Nuff said....
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

Bullit_68

I,m looking for a good A body project. I don,t really need another car but thats the good thing about being single i can buy one and have nobody to answer to lol.

My dad just bought me a '71 swinger.  The body is mint and so is the interior.  He bought it on the spot when we were talking to the gentleman.  Sheer impulse.

dodgecharger-fan

I've had that discussion a few times...  :rotz:

Once just in the last month.
The toughest part is I had the cash readily available. Of course, there are other things that it needs to be spent on... the house needs windows this year..

My wife and I had the, "You don't NEED it," discussion.
I totally agreed, but it wasn't about need. :)

Every argument against buying it she threw at me was absolutely irrefutable. I just kept saying, "Yeah, you're right, but it doesn't matter."

Bottom line: I knew I shouldn't do it and I was just trying to get her to convince me not to.

I still think I should get it. It's a bit of an oddball car and I haven't seen one come for sale very often.... 63 Imperial Crown Coupe. Safetied and tagged. Would need a new master cylinder right away and the body has a few blemishes but nothing major. However, I never did get under the car...

sigh...

Right now I have 7 Mopars all bought on impulse - or very close to it. The cash outlay also has to include the garage to house them.
So from giving them up for good in 1980 or so, to what's out in the back yard.
And if you have to justify something in your life to someone else - well. Any wife or GF that really knows you knows where the Mopars fit into your life. As far as anyone else, including parents relatives, friends - that's why God gave you a middle finger.

Well having just picked up 2 challengers I certainly did not have a NEED for them but heck I got a good price on them both.  Just could not say NO....

Am I an Addict..... :o

Don't tell her! ;D

It's the 48 Hour rule!

You park it in the corner of the garage and cover it. Then put boxes on top of the cover. Now over the next two days slowly take the stuff off the car. and in the last 12 hours slowly remove the cover. Then once the cover is gone, Shut up!

Now depending on the wife you have a 1-3 day stay of execution, before you get the inevitable, "What is that in the garge?" Sometimes acompanied by the "look".

Now you are legally obligated to resond, "What?... that old thing?... That's been here for ever!" and go back to drinking your adult beverage of choice!.

Works every time!  ;D

p.s. Try not to show fear on the last step, they can sense it! :o Oh and I am not liable for any injuries caused by improper usage of the "48 hour Rule"

My mechanic told me, "I couldn't fix your brakes, but don't worry I made your horn louder."

What kind of Mopar? Then we can tell you if you "need" it or not. :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

volk68

I want one of darn near every classic Mopar out there.  My problem is that I lack sufficient funds for this.  My wife insists on no more "old cars", but there are some deals that if I stumbled upon them, I would find a way to bring it home.  The next car on my personal hit list is a 68 Barracuda.  If I found one cheap enough, there would be no way to stop me :yesnod:

69charger2002

hazzardjohn, that 48 hour rule is hilarious. my wife is now so oblivious to it, i don't even think she's notice if i brought another charger homw. SEROUSLY.. hey volk68, i just got in a very restorable 68 barracuda. i bought it on impulse(go figure), but i have no plans for it. shoot me a pm. it's a coupe, not a fastback

It is probably best that I am married or I would be broke living in a one room shack with 40 or 50 project cars out back and nothing done.

My wife actually said no more projects until you fix one up. Well, I finished it last year......here Chally Chally.  ;)

Holy crap! :o We had one just like that when I was a kid! Well, except it was that "other" color...my parents just had a thing for green.
Ours had a 383 though...in fact, that's the first carb I ever rebuilt! It was during the winter, so I soaked it a bucket in my bedroom. I think it took a whole month to get that smell out of my room. :icon_smile_big:

*EDIT* This one's got more options than ours, though. Ours had manual windows, no telescopic steering & no cornering lights.
I wonder if that spotlight was a factory option?

I think rolling thunder is from the south calli area?

Tom

The Ghoul

just ask the wife if she needs more than one pares of shoes?

Old Moparz

Don't even think about buying it.

Why would you want something like that?

You can only drive one car at a time.

It's a horrible gas pig.

You'll be spending all your money fixing it.

It'll be hard to park.

The woodgrain makes it look dated.

You can't get parts that easily for it.

You wouldn't want to be seen in an old thing like that.

It'll never hold it's value.

You can get a small compact car & think about how much you'll save on gas.

It's bad for the environment.

There's a few companies that could use it for pollution credits.

Why would you want to make some homeless family of 9 live on the street?

Where do you get parts for that?

It won't fit in your garage.

You don't have the Brady Bunch as a family.

But........ if you think you have to have it, go get it. It looks okay, but I see some crust in the rocker in the one photo.

i'm not gonna be able to get it as im all booked up for the next two weekends and probably the third one after that too...
It's important stuff I can't just  blow off... so it'll have to be (another) one that got away...  :'(
