I'll see if I can post some pics of the Chargers, as there are MANY!!!!  :2thumbs:

myk

Not a 'Vette person myself, so the choice would be easy for me.  As for the Chargers, that would be a treat; I don't think I've ever seen more than two Chargers together at any one time.  There was the one time when a dealer parked their SRT8 Charger by my '69 at a car show for their display, but...that didn't count...

XS29L9Bxxxxxx

I love the Corvettes - AND the Chargers!!!

There will be dozens upon dozens of 2nd and 3rd Gen Chargers at this show. The best of the best :Twocents: I cannot sleep!!!

Hopefully some 1st gens too?

Was at the show from 8:45 AM until 8 PM. I am beat! Did not see any 1st Gen Chargers. saw probably a 1/2 doz 2nd gens, a few 3rd gens, and a couple wing cars.  :drool5:

As much as my back hurts from standing on concrete, I'll be back in the AM. :patriot:

Vettes are overrated in my book.  They're nice cars, but when cheaper cars can garner the same performance, the appeal doesn't catch me.

But it's more than just performance. She has loved the look of the car right from it's infancy to present day. A corvette is a corvette is a corvette. No nice cheap car can take away from that.

I agree that there are some nice Vettes.   I personally like the Mako shark type.

Ghoste

Its image and reputation, I get why the Chev guys adore it but I'd sooner have a Viper.

Aero426

Aside from the name, other muscle cars outnumber the Vettes at this show by a lot.    Great event.   The group of cars they put together would be nearly impossible to see in one place anywhere else.

Ghoste

And with the guy organizing it being a Mopar guy I would think the Chrysler products would all be pretty top shelf examples.

I thought so to at first but I've changed my mind. I'd have to choose the Vette.

Stayed today until 4 PM. What a long day!

There were two 1st Gen Chargers. A green one and a gold one.

Saw more 2nd gens, incl. a C500  There was also a new Challenger which was made to look like a modern (interpretation) Daytona  :-\

Barn find section was pretty good, but "Barn Find" is overused, when at least one of those cars was pulled from a field, rust and all. Several were tired... The coolest one though, was the Ford wagon w/ 428 and 4 spd w/ buckets  :coolgleamA:

Aero426

Yes, the 428 stick Country Squire was perhaps my favorite car from the Barn Finds.    An incredible sight.

I did, I recruited them, organized and pushed almost every damn one around in that whole section!  There is a picture out there somewhere of me lying on the ground after slipping while pushing that 427 Nova.

Serious car yes, but the bezels aroung the marker lights should be B5 blue on that car not the white to match the stripe. That is if they wanted it to be like it was before the restoration process ever started.

TUFCAT

I saw the car in person (several times over the two days at MCACN) and its safe to say this is the most beautiful, and best restored 1969 Charger 500 Hemi on the planet. :2thumbs:

I don't know if the bezel color is correct or not.  Having said that, if anyone points out this "flaw" to Ken Mosier be prepared for at least a 30-minute argument. :whistling:

It does make sense to me.  When the cars were delivered to Creative (without stripes), the marker lens bezels were body color.  I'm guessing the butchers at Creative weren't overly concerned about trivial things like painting bezels to match a stripe color.

69_500

I have not seen the car since they did this last restoration on it. But the one done it prior was not the greatest. That being said the cars that Ken does do turn out very pleasing to the eyes.

Having not seen it in person I will reserve my opinion on which is the nicest restored Hemi 500 but it would be tough to beat the one done by Kori a few years back.

Ghoste

I would have to agree wioth you Danny for the same reasons.  I'd like to see this one in person obviously.

No worries, I completely understand.  Tell your daughter that you know the fat guy in the fedora that was driving the car.  She'll probably laugh.

On this one for sure and to be honest I have not found a single unrestored car with them painted stripe color. But then again I have looked at less than 30 unrestored cars. So not a huge sampling, but not sure how many more unrestored ones there are to look at.

TUFCAT

I agree.  Creative Industries didn't have the time to mess around with re-painting bezels. Hell they barely got the 500's and Daytona projects finished.

Their job order might have well said: "just hack the shit out of them as fast as possible. No need to make them pretty".    :D

No worries, another time.  It looks like I will be around a while longer.  I'll post a picture next time, so people know who to look for.  Even though more then likely it will scare more people away.

Also on the 500....

Here is the car in question... 1969 Dodge Charger 500, Hemi car with a 4-speed.  White rump stripe, Blue interior car

Here is the other one.  1969 Dodge Charger 500, Hemi car with a 4-speed, White rump stripe, blue interior.  Rusty... but unrestored.

Take it for what it is.

TUFCAT

Thanks for posting Ryan. I didn't want to be the "know-it-all" but since you posted I will share this. My Dad had a Charger 500 in the 70's. The bezels were painted body color.

Then again, I'd rather think more about that foot tattoo  :o

Very doubtful. If Chrysler didn't have it specified...it wasn't getting done. Even the "specified" stuff was done half-assed.

Regarding the C500 at MCACN, it was done by Ken Mosier at Finer Details. The car presents as close to perfect as you can get with fantastic quality and workmanship. The question is will Ken accept this as being wrong and correct it?  I certainly won't say anything to him ....'caus aint nobody got time for that!  :boxing_smiley:  :icon_smile_blackeye:

I talk with Ken on and off and I'll see him at PRI next week.  I'll mention it to him.  He does take criticism.  When that 68 Hemi Charger a few years ago was found to have I think 3 things wrong, he promptly took it back and had them corrected almost immediately.

On the other hand, I know the owner of the car... he's "unique".  He might have wanted it that way to look better.

Ryan

69_500

To be honest here the bezels were intended to match the stripe just like they do on R/T cars. But personally I just think that Creative just figured no one was going to pitch a fit if they were still body color. On these cars they do not stand out that much, but on the Daytona with the larger stripe it is really easy to see which is why on Daytona's you see them stripe color. Oddly enough if you remove them they are mostly mismatched colors underneath.

Ryan do you know if that 500 is still at Ken's or has the owner picked it up! I only live about a twenty minute drive from his shop.

It was brought back to them after MCACN.  That's all I know.  That car and I have had a ruff run together.  So I don't follow up.  But give them a call, or I can ask when I talk to him this weekend.

That's cool.  No worries, I doubt she would have known who I was and the shoot was very quick.  And it would be a bit of a drive, but it is worth it.  And every year there is a 90% turn over on cars!
