So I spent a week in Santa Barbara "again" and this 69 Charger pulls in behind me at a gas station.   What's the odds?  ???    I spent 20 minutes or more talking to the owner that bought the Car new.   He's 92 years old and loves horsepower.   He also has a 68 Charger.    Anyway, here's a few pictures.

What are the odds that an unrestored 1969 R/T Charger will pull in behind you at the service station!!! Awesome story and I hope you got his contact information.

What a great story.  Do we have members in Santa Barbara who know of this car?

skip68

It was fully optioned with AC.   It had headrest but he took them off.  I think he ordered the car if I remember correctly.   Oh, it was automatic with bucket seats.   He said he's never left it parked outside.   ALWAYS PARKED IN GARAGE SINCE NEW WITH 0% rust.     Really neat pro American mopar car guy.    And at 92 years old he still likes to hammer the throttle.    Just priceless.

He also said it was 500ci with a cam.  So, modified original numbers matching.

:2thumbs:   That car looks great!   And T5 too  :coolgleamA:

That's all kinds of awesome...  but personally I really don't want to be anywhere near where a 90+ year old is driving   :Twocents:   But this guy must be in pretty good shape considering the car looks that good still.

I'll get information for the registry probably in a couple weeks.    And yes, I did ask if he'd consider selling it.  He said absolutely not.    :icon_smile_big:
He said he raced at the salt flats (40's-60's) and set some records.   Just a really friendly neat old gearhead.

That is an awesome story!  Living the dream, slippers and all!

Sublime/Sixpack

Cool car, cool guy, cool story!
He would have been around 48 yrs. old when he bought the car. I'll bet it seems like only 10 or 15 years ago to him.
