Same question for both shows really but do attendees from this forum all try and stay near the same location or is it every person for themselves?

ODZKing

We've been to both and everyone is sort of scattered.
There is not much near New Hamburg anyway. Mostly Waterloo, Cambridge and Kitchener.

Ghoste

Yeah that is part of why I asked because Carlisle isn't a huge place either.

But Carlisle has hundreds of hotels ... all of which are overpriced.  ::)

Ghoste

Whenever I've been to Carlisle (not for the Chrysler show), we had to stay in Harrisburg because the couple that we knew of in Carlisle were always full.

I stay at Holiday inn in Kitchener for Moparfest in New Hamburg

Ghoste

Is it fairly full with participants or do you find yourself on your own there?

Ron (BigSugar) stayed at a B&B but how far a drive is the Holiday Inn Don? This year I want to get there Friday for the Cruise/Show in New Hamburg & stay Fri/Sat night  :2thumbs:

The parking lot was chock full of Mopars.

I'd say it is about a 15 minute drive to Moparfest. It is pretty much where HWY #7 meets HWY #8. There is a Petro Canada not far away with 94 octane and the hotel restaurant is pretty good.

Booked a year ahead I assume?  Many people camp for Moparfest?

I used to stay in Carlisle, now just a little further out in Mechanicsburg.

I'm not aware of any camping at Moparfest. Hotels should be available and they don't get crazy with rates just because there is a car show nearby.

Ghoste

Thanks Don.  This year for the first time in many many years I'm going to have weekends available in the summer so I want to hit Carlisle and Moparfest for the first time.

I lucked out this year and just drove over to Carlisle, found a hotel that day and only paid $58 per night. Will not press my luck to match that next year though.

I have gone to Carlisle for the past 4 or is it 5 yrs now. When one of the board members took the time to setup a group rate there was definitely a community from DC.com there and it was actually quite fun sitting in the parking lot over beers in the late evening cranking on the BS meter. The past few years it's been more scattered and I have kinda attached myself to the hip of NHCharger and he has "shown me the ropes" for lack of a better expression. The daylight hours are kinda bare at the show as most of the DC.com folks are out checking out the cars, parts, and the sales girls.  :icon_smile_big:  The 70 registry guys seem to be more of a social group as their tent is setup like a tailgate. We meet up with a few folks along the way and sometimes dinner but the past couple years the parking lot has been a bust which I do find quite sad. After all, I did meet many members there that first year and struck up several nice friendships as a direct result. Which of course made the trip that much more enjoyable. I hope that someday that returns, even if I have to step up and try to get a group rate.
