I bought some "mopar" 8 3/4 u bolts off eBay... These to be exact.

...Only to find out they don't have the flattened cross hatched area like the oem ones.  I have read that keeps them from crushing the axle housing tube.  Has anyone used bolts similar to the ones I bought without damaging the rear tube?  Or should I send them back?

I used these from Mega Parts  part number 110-C8114.    They are made by AMK.....awesome stuff.

The MP ones that I originally intended to use could be bent by hand....I could literally bend them.  They went in the garbage.

I used the ones from ebay no problems. What crushes the axle tube is over tightening. There are lots of cars and trucks with leaf springs that don't have the flattened top u bolts.
