I couldn't figure out what the original problem was after going down thru 3 links.   Any info??

NHCharger

Long story/short version. Apparently John promised to make a part and took a number of deposits. Ended up never making said part and did not refund money to all the people that gave him a deposit ($50.00 I believe)

Here is the original thread. As usual everyone on Moparts had to give their opinion since most of them are experts on everything.

it was aimed at the 66-67 crowd for making the rear deck lid bezel & medallions...lots of first Gen members ponied up the money, and it was $275 per person to start this project started, it never flew...some got money back, some didn't...if they ain't seen it by now, it's never gonna happen. Most of the people who "gave" him money were from the Yahoo group or 66-67Charger site....it's been 8 years....nobody else is gonna get the money back now....

yes, a fair amount of money that he doesn't plan on paying back.  Its unfortunate as I have used both his driveshaft loop and subframe connectors with very good results.

I would hate to see anyone on this site get taken advantage of here. so just an fyi

I was the one that started that post at moparts.com. I posted there because John Pasemann / US Car Tool was one of there sponsors. A lot of fighting back & forth, but I think they saw I was telling the truth. John finally did respond, which made things worst for himself.  Then the powers to be at Moparts.com blocked any further posts, thus ending the pressure I was putting on John. I think if I had a few more days John would finished making those refunds.

8 years is a long time but I think John is getting tired of this and will finish paying back the people he still owes. I will keep fighting till I get my money back, but need to find as many of the other people that this happened to help me. I did find some people at Moparts.com , but need more. Please help spread the word.

Thanks,
Jim

What moparts did was archive the thread in the best of section, where it will stay and can be viewed by anyone who clicks on the site. As you could see by the number of posts in that thread there is a large contingent of "know it alls" at moparts and they love to dog pile. Apparently the mods cleaned the thread up several times but after a while the mods just gave up and archived the thread so people could not continue to post. There were a few allegations I read by members with a very low post count that made me wonder if what they were saying was true or just looking to pile on.

I have known Tom the owner of moparts for ten years. He is a stand up guy. To be honest I don't know how he puts up with the number of the jack asses that continue to post over there. Tom does have a large number of sponsors that pay him money to advertise on his site. One sponsor "WAS" US Car Tool. Tom cancelled the deal until John gets this  straightened out. So I don't think it's fair to say Tom is sweeping this under the rug. If the members over there had stuck to the facts and not voice their God Like opinions the thread would still be active.

I met John at Carlisle the year. I bought a set of frame connectors and a core stiffener from him. He gave me a $25.00 discount for the combined purchase so my experience with him is nothing but positive. If what you're saying is true I hope John does the right thing and square up with you and anyone else that gave him a deposit of $275.00.

Sad to say but there is a large number of know - it - alls on every website including this one . I hope every thing gets ironed out for all involved . I know what they are going through . I'm having a problem with a guy at another site over a rear spoiler that I paid for .

I am also somewhat familuar with this and have a friend (not me) that did donate money to the repro part situation, it was an emblem.
He and a few others that I know spoke to John at Carlisle.  And while he did not return their money, he did offer to give them another reproduction part in return.  In the case of this one friend, he received a trunk lid edge trim.
I don't know Jogn well, only through ordering some parts years ago when he offered them and speaking with him at Carlisle.  I think it was a very unfortunate incident for all involved.

Ghoste

Unfortunate all around.  I've dealt with John P. as well several years ago and the experience was positive but 8 years is a long time to rectify a problem.  His business seemed to be doing well for a while and then US Car Tool seemed to disappear.  It would be nice to see it fixed as there aren't a lot of people looking after the 1st gen Charger market (although I think he was starting to concentrate on the driveshaft loops and rotisseries).

mitchell

It's not like 8 years passed, and then one day I said hey whatever happened to that part I ordered 8 years ago.
Way to many things happened from then to now to list. Every attempt to get my money back has failed. I have
heard some have gotten there money back, but he still has a few to more to go. So I will keep trying.

What can someone who's been victimized in this manner do after a certain amount of time has elapsed?  Isn't there a statute of limitations, or something?

mitchell

Not much you can do, but keep at him. Make it public so he gets tired of hearing about it.
At some point you would think that he would want to put it behind him. I have not gotten to that point yet.

Not to hijack the thread, but in another message board I paid about $1200 for a WS6 hood that I never got.  I burned him publicly but all that did was just drive him off of the boards.  I swore I'd never do business with that sort of money over the internet again...
